The protracted and brutal war had already begun, the Kalimdor Continent burning fiercely.

The regional lords, one after another, answered the call of Lord Ravencrest, forming an unprecedentedly vast Rebel Alliance of Elves, bearing a certain resemblance to the eighteen feudal lords who rose against Dong Zhuo—except Ravencrest was no Yuan Shao, nor was he so inept.

In response to the lords' open defiance, the great Light of Lights, Queen Azshara, flew into a furious rage. She immediately dispatched her court envoys to denounce every lord, declaring them traitors to the elves, and warned that if they persisted in their rebellion, they would face the harshest judgments and punishments.

But by this point, the leaders of the Rebel Alliance held little respect or loyalty left for Queen Azshara.

The demon army from the capital, Eldorei, was now slaughtering every living thing it encountered. The territories of the various lords had suffered attacks of varying intensity, with countless elven civilians falling beneath the demons' fel-flame blades, driving the lords to gnash their teeth in hatred.

The queen had gone mad, colluding with the demons of the Burning Legion—for what? For the sake of so-called eternal rule? For the status of a god's consort?

If the queen no longer cared for her own people, then she would receive no loyalty from them either.

The Val'sharah region, where Black Rook Hold stood, had always been the fiercest frontline, enduring demon assaults far more intense than anywhere else.

And overseeing this war zone was the Burning Legion's first commander on the World of Azeroth: Haka the Canine God.

This demon lord had mastered the essence of human-wave tactics. Every attack brought countless felhounds and massive formations of demon guards, surging like a green-black tsunami to overwhelm the enemy ahead.

In response, Krasus and Rhonin, who had rushed back to Black Rook Hold, launched a special strike operation.

The main force of the elven rebel army drew the enemy's fire head-on, fighting tooth and nail against the demon horde, while the strike team carried out a decapitation assault from the air.

Lord Ravencrest earned the trust of others not only because his forces were the most powerful overall, but also because he always led from the front, his mobile command platform perpetually stationed at the vanguard.

This elven commander, clad in enchanted heavy armor, swung his longsword, cutting down small groups of demon soldiers that broke through the lines, showing no sign of a pampered noble.

His captain of the guard, Jarod Shadowsong, found this deeply troubling, leading his personal soldiers in a tense, protective circle around the lord.

Jarod was a fine warrior, but that was all he was—for his sister, Maiev Shadowsong, was the true pride of the Shadowsong family.

Selected at a young age by the Temple of the Moon, she was being groomed as a new generation elite Priestess of the Moon.

Maiev and her sisters were trained more toward the combat-oriented Moon Sentinels, a different path from Tyrande's Priestesses of the Moon.

But Jarod, with his excellent on-the-spot judgment and decent command abilities, had earned Lord Ravencrest's high regard, so the lord kept him close, intending to mold him into a commander capable of standing on his own.

The main battlefield raged fiercely. After stabilizing their lines, the elven army began a slow counteroffensive.

If the Burning Legion's demons were only this strong, then they weren't so tough after all.

Watching the demon guards and felhounds shift from offense to defense, the elves began to think this way.

"Charge! On to Eldorei! Send these damned demons back to their hellish homeland!"

The main force advanced triumphantly, and the strike team's progress was also going smoothly.

A massive red dragon spewed scorching dragonfire, clearing the landing zone of demons, then crashed to the ground and transformed into human form.

"Haka, today you die without a doubt!"

No sooner had Krasus spoken than a Pyroblast fireball roared past him—Rhonin's doing.

Rhonin, this human, had always had a rough career in Dalaran. This archmage, with his hot temper and impatient nature, had caused numerous magical and experimental mishaps, some even resulting in casualties. So when Krasus took him away, the entire city of Dalaran practically celebrated with drums and fireworks.

Empowered by the Titan's blessing, Rhonin was now brimming with excitement, wishing he could turn himself into a machine gun of Pyroblasts and burn every last Burning Legion demon to ash.

Haka let out a roar, swinging his flaming whip to deflect Rhonin's Pyroblast head-on, then let out a low, sinister chuckle.

"Foolish ants, the Legion will burn this world—ow!"

Before he could finish, the massive Haka was sent flying backward, carving a long trench across the ground behind him.

"Demon, feel the power of the Horde! Lok'tar!"

The orc Brox was even more hot-tempered; he had no intention of dishonoring the Saurfang name.

In the future, his brother Varok Saurfang would earn supreme glory in the Warchief's army, attaining the position of High Warlord and being affectionately called King Saurfang by the soldiers.

The orc warrior swung his two unique axes, charging forward, then began hacking at the fel-rune armor on Haka's chest.

"Rhonin, clear out the felhound reinforcements! I'll help the orc!"

With that, Krasus blinked forward and joined the orc in melee combat with the demon lord.

Rhonin pursed his lips, raised his staff, and began channeling a thick pillar of flame, sweeping it like a flamethrower across the felhounds rushing to aid their master.

Krasus, meanwhile, started unleashing a relentless Arcane Barrage at Haka the Canine God. With precise control, each shot came from a tricky angle, targeting the parts of the demon lord not covered by armor.

In the end, victory was theirs. Through the combined assault of the three, Haka the Canine God became the first high-ranking Burning Legion lord to fall in battle.

His grotesque head was severed and brought back to the elven rebel army, serving as a massive morale boost.

Lord Ravencrest was very pleased. He immediately decided to press the advantage, advancing swiftly toward Eldorei to end this damned war.

And that's exactly what they did. The alliance marched triumphantly until they reached the direct jurisdiction of the Eldorei region.

Then, they encountered an even more terrifying enemy: Mannoroth the Destructor.

This colossal pit lord had just crossed through the portal and immediately led his terrifying army into battle.

His pit lords charged like high-speed steamrollers, each assault clearing an entire straight line of enemies.

These four-legged, centaur-like giant demons wielded double-headed spears, or had their hands severed and replaced with two razor-sharp fel glaives.

Their backs burned with fel flame, extending all the way to their barbed tails.

The sky was ablaze. Countless green-black flaming meteors rained down, smashing circular craters into the elven ranks, from which massive stone constructs wreathed in fel fire crawled out—Infernals.

And there were the countless Wrathguard, the Legion's high-ranking soldiers with four arms, rapidly swinging their four longswords, unleashing wave after wave of area-wide fel slashes.

In the sky, Doom Guards slaughtered the elves' Hippogryph riders while covering the swarm of Felbats as they charged into the elven ranks, then dropped the Fel explosive barrels they carried, bombing the elven soldiers on the ground.

The elven resistance coalition was routed. They suffered heavy casualties and retreated once more to their starting point, Black Rook Hold.

Only now did they realize what kind of terrifying enemy they faced. The first wave of demon vanguard they had crushed earlier was nothing more than the Legion's casual effort, not serious at all.

The battle stalemated once again, and a stalemate meant defeat.

In the capital Eldorei, an enormous demon army continued to pour into the World of Azeroth without end.
