The lower levels of the Tower of Slumber, Ascension of the Chosen Division.
Having presented the God-Emperor's authorization and successfully entered the interior, Queen Azshara was touring the place.
Of all the factions within the Empire, the one Queen Azshara found most pleasing to the eye was undoubtedly the Crusaders.
Strange, was it not? The Crusaders had publicly humiliated Queen Azshara and killed quite a few Court Elves of the Origin Night, yet she still held this special faction in high regard.
As a standard elven supremacist, she had never once abandoned the Central Race mentality of ten thousand years ago. The Crusaders, meanwhile, shared many similarities with the Court Elves.
This was authority. This was power. It captivated Queen Azshara beyond escape.
Screech...
Queen Azshara's fingernails slid across the dark-gold breastplate of a Chosen Zealot. Feeling the power of this ascended elf, the Light of Lights nodded in satisfaction.
"Take your hand off me." The zealot naturally showed the Light of Lights no such respect and cast her a cold glance.
Queen Azshara did not mind. She turned toward Crusader Inquisitor Landus, who was leading her to the ascension platform.
"So what you mean is, if our Court Elf ascendants wish to produce Firstborn of the Gods, they must undergo mental modification?"
Landus, clad in heavy runic armor, nodded. "That's right. Otherwise, your limit will be Chosen Prefects. We will also monitor your special group at all times through the psychic network."
"What I want is a force loyal to me."
"We understand. That is why Firstborn of the Gods will never emerge among you." Landus answered with a sneer.
Queen Azshara was somewhat angered. Elisande had played her after all. No wonder that Archmage had agreed so easily and granted the Court Elves so many ascension slots.
