The Phantom Demons inhabit the Spirit Fiend Abyss, a parallel world that eventually became connected to the human world. The connection brought the two realms infinitely closer and allowed blood-feeding Phantom Demons to invade Earth. Humanity was initially unable to resist them, leading to the creation of enormous Base Cities such as Longyao City 2.

Phantom Demons possess extraordinary regenerative abilities and physical structures unlike those of humans. Their blood serves both as food and as the primary source of their power. Humans can refine Phantom Demon blood into Phantasmal Demon Elixirs, allowing them to acquire a Phantom Demon bloodline and become Hunters 3 12.

A Phantom Demon can absorb blood and accumulate enough power to evolve into a new individual. Greater Phantasmal Demons often become kings or territorial rulers among their kind, while the highest-level individuals can threaten entire regions or the survival of humanity 24 33.

The most catastrophic known example was the Spirit Fiend Abyss King, a Terror Breed that invaded the human world and destroyed Base Cities.
