Hawk Demon at the fourth level of the Profound Realm slain. Obtained 400 Demon Points! Dog Demon at the fifth level of the Profound Realm slain. Obtained 500 Demon Points! Sparrow Demon at the fifth level of the Profound Realm slain. Obtained 500 Demon Points!
After nearly half a month of ceaseless demon slaying, his Demon Points had finally accumulated to a fairly considerable number again.
Li Xuanxiao opened his personal panel.
Host: Li Xuanxiao Realm: First Level of the Mystic Realm Cultivation Arts: Mystic—Mystic Lotus Sutra (Beginner), Profound—Ancient Subtle Life Lotus (Sublimity Realm) Martial Arts: Mystic—Mirage Blade (Not Yet Initiated), Profound—My Buddha Illuminates Seal (Sublimity Realm), Profound—Pure Lotus Bloom (Perfection), Profound—Rainbow Light Travel (Perfection), Profound—Law-Breaking Qi-Extinguishing Slash (Sublimity Realm), Profound—Bone-Clinging Shadow (Perfection) Demon Points:
Very good, he could add points again!
Consumed 8,000 Demon Points. Mystic Lotus Sutra has entered the Lesser Mastery realm! Insufficient Demon Points. Unable to continue upgrading!
Li Xuanxiao's eyes widened. He had not expected that merely raising a Mystic Realm cultivation art to Lesser Mastery would require 8,000 Demon Points!
And the Demon Points he had left were not even enough to raise it by another realm?
Did that mean reaching Greater Mastery would require even more Demon Points!?
Damn, this was outrageously absurd! What kind of Mystic Realm cultivation art was this? It was practically a gold-devouring beast!
He had no choice. Since the cultivation art could not be upgraded further, he could only improve something else.
Consumed 3,000 Demon Points. Mirage Blade has attained Basic Understanding! Consumed 8,000 Demon Points. Mirage Blade has entered the Lesser Mastery realm!
He spent more Demon Points, raising his other Mystic Realm martial art to Lesser Mastery as well.
The Demon Points on him had shrunk again, leaving him with only 3,800.
What could 3,800 even do?
Li Xuanxiao scanned his panel. The Mystic Realm was no longer an option for upgrades, so he could only start with the Profound Realm.
Three thousand Demon Points were just enough to raise a perfected Profound Realm cultivation art or martial art to the Sublimity Realm.
And he currently had three perfected Profound Realm cultivation arts and martial arts waiting to be upgraded.
They were...
Profound—Pure Lotus Bloom (Perfection) Profound—Rainbow Light Travel (Perfection) Profound—Bone-Clinging Shadow (Perfection)
One was a Buddhist Sect martial art that combined defense, healing, and the removal of abnormal statuses—a marvelously well-rounded technique.
One was a flashy, taunt-filled long-range flying martial art with astonishing speed.
One was an exquisite movement technique for close combat, eerie and impossible to guard against.
Without much thought, Li Xuanxiao immediately decided to invest in "Pure Lotus Bloom."
Consumed 3,000 Demon Points. Pure Lotus Bloom has reached the Sublimity Realm!
At this point, his panel updated once more!
Host: Li Xuanxiao Realm: Fourth Level of the Mystic Realm Cultivation Arts: Mystic—Mystic Lotus Sutra (Lesser Mastery), Profound—Ancient Subtle Life Lotus (Sublimity Realm) Martial Arts: Mystic—Mirage Blade (Lesser Mastery), Profound—My Buddha Illuminates Seal (Sublimity Realm), Profound—Pure Lotus Bloom (Sublimity Realm), Profound—Rainbow Light Travel (Perfection), Profound—Law-Breaking Qi-Extinguishing Slash (Sublimity Realm), Profound—Bone-Clinging Shadow (Perfection) Demon Points: 800
"Fourth level of the Mystic Realm..."
Li Xuanxiao sighed softly. Even he felt that his rate of advancement was truly too absurd.
As long as he had enough Demon Points, he could cross realms at a speed others could scarcely imagine.
Having a system was awesome!
With a sigh, Li Xuanxiao decided to find somewhere to rest for a couple of days first.
This kind of high-intensity enemy hunting and killing truly consumed a person tremendously.
Whether physically or mentally.
Li Xuanxiao immediately began searching for a place to stay.
After flying for some time, he concealed his eye-catching Mystic Realm aura and slowly descended into a city.
This city was called Violet Firmament City, a relatively large city.
The city's defensive force consisted mainly of Peak Realm martial artists, though there were also two Profound Realm martial artists.
Among the many cities of Pei Province, it ranked relatively high in defensive strength.
Moreover, this place did not suffer much harassment from demons.
Thus, it appeared exceptionally tranquil and peaceful, without that grim, killing air of a storm about to break.
The city was bustling. Teahouses and taverns were all open for business as usual.
Li Xuanxiao entered a tavern and instructed the waiter to bring him a pot of tea, then climbed the stairs to the second floor.
The moment he reached the second floor, his gaze was drawn to a young man dressed like a brocade-robed young lord.
The other man's bearing was simply too otherworldly. In a tavern so heavy with the dust and smoke of mortal life, he stood out all the more.
But Li Xuanxiao was only briefly surprised before walking over to a window seat and sitting down by himself.
Stealing a moment of leisure amid his busyness, he enjoyed this brief stretch of peace.
The Brocade-Robed Young Lord also casually glanced at Li Xuanxiao.
Only when he saw the Demon Slayer Division uniform on Li Xuanxiao did a trace of surprise appear between his brows.
Soon, the tea arrived. As Li Xuanxiao sipped it and watched the serene, peaceful people beyond the window, his eyes softened.
Yet his leisurely demeanor drew the displeasure of some people.
"Are you a martial artist of the Demon Slayer Division?"
A voice spoke up, its tone somewhat strange.
"Indeed!"
Li Xuanxiao raised his brows and looked over. It was a middle-aged man dressed like a merchant, seated not far away.
The man's expression was somewhat stern, with a faint hostility lurking beneath it.
Combined with his question, Li Xuanxiao immediately formed a guess.
The Demon Slayer Division uniform he wore was so obvious that the other man could not possibly have failed to see it.
The man sounded as though he were asking a question, but the reproach in his tone was far too apparent.
He clearly was not confirming Li Xuanxiao's identity. Rather, he seemed to be reminding Li Xuanxiao to mind his identity.
After giving it some thought, Li Xuanxiao looked at the tea before him and immediately understood.
What the man truly meant was probably: Since you are a martial artist of the Demon Slayer Division, how can you still have the time and leisure to sit here drinking tea?
"Demons are wreaking havoc across Pei Province. With such a great enemy before us, how can you, as a martial artist of the Demon Slayer Division, hole up in one corner and evade your duties?"
Sure enough, the middle-aged man's next words confirmed Li Xuanxiao's guess.
This was truly speechless! Li Xuanxiao wanted to curse inwardly.
I've worked myself to the bone and finally take a short break, only to listen to this bastard's nagging!
How do you know I'm hiding in one corner? How do you know I'm evading my duties?
He hated most those people who knew nothing yet rushed in to morally blackmail others, standing on the high ground of righteousness and condemning people with perfect confidence.
Taking another sip of tea, Li Xuanxiao chuckled. "Then what does Your Excellency think I should do?"
The middle-aged man clasped his hands toward the sky. "Naturally, slay demons and eliminate evil, serve the nation with loyalty, and save the people of Pei Province from fire and water!"
"Just like that Lord Li Xuanxiao! Wherever he goes, every demon is slain! What a hero he is!"
Upon hearing the name Li Xuanxiao, the Brocade-Robed Young Lord tilted his head slightly and began listening carefully to their conversation.
Li Xuanxiao froze. He had somehow become the subject of gossip himself?
Had what he had been doing lately already spread all the way here?
"Demons are wreaking havoc now. My caravan cannot even leave the city, all because of irresponsible martial artists like you!"
So his business had gone under because of the demons, and now he was flying into a rage and taking it out on others.
Damn it, did I cause the demons' rampage? Li Xuanxiao could not be bothered to argue with him and simply acted as though he had not heard.
The middle-aged man cursed and ranted. In the end, seeing that Li Xuanxiao ignored him no matter what he said, he found no fun in it and stormed off in anger.
Li Xuanxiao could finally drink his tea in peace.
But before long, someone else came looking for him.
The Brocade-Robed Young Lord sat diagonally across from Li Xuanxiao. He raised his wine cup toward Li Xuanxiao in salute.
"Greetings, sir. I heard the two of you mention a Lord Li Xuanxiao earlier, someone remarkably valiant in slaying demons and eliminating evil."
"May I ask, sir, have you ever met that Lord Li Xuanxiao?"
