What?
Putting a mermaid on Tony's fishing hook—did that count as giving him a woman?
Well, so be it.
Wasn't there an old saying? A boss who didn't care about his subordinates wasn't a good boss.
Lake felt that he was still a fairly good boss. He had given Tony Stark the opportunity of Ophiuchus. For a normal person, without even mentioning anything else, paying their respects once a day would have been the least they could do, right?
But what about Tony?
If he didn't come, then so be it. Lake didn't blame Tony. There was another old saying: only fools looked for the cause in others, while the clever looked for the cause in themselves.
So...
Lake had reflected on it. Perhaps he hadn't cared enough for his subordinate. As it happened, he could use the time his subordinate spent fishing to send him a mermaid and show his subordinate some care.

Romance was a balance, with the man and woman each standing at one end. Although many young couples weren't perfectly balanced, it wasn't as if one end would be raised high into the air while the other sank straight down.
Previously, Strange and Christine had both been floating above the two ends of the balance.
But now?
After losing his livelihood, Strange's end of the balance had been pressed straight down.
Lake thought about it, but ultimately gave up on telling Rachel that he was the one behind this.
