"Why did you enchant a weapon for Weston?" Denise asked.

Raven answered casually, "Because he wanted one, so I gave him one."

He turned to Weston and asked, "Well? Do you like it?"

Weston glanced at his mother and said softly, "Mm... I like it!"

Raven shrugged. "See? He doesn't have any objections himself."

Denise frowned and glared at Weston before looking back at Raven, her tone growing slightly sterner. "Raven, I'm speaking seriously with you."

She understood Raven. His shrewdness and cost calculations were no worse than any merchant's. There was no way he would waste a precious Enchanted Weapon on Weston at a time when preparations were so tense.

"Whoa, whoa, don't get worked up." Raven picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth. "I'm speaking seriously with you too."

"In two more months, Weston will be fifteen, right?"

Denise nodded and asked, puzzled, "Yes, but what does that have to do with giving him a weapon?"

"Fifteen." Raven spoke with a hint of emotion. "At that age, I had already begun making my way in the streets."

Denise knew Raven's background quite well. She glanced at him. "How can the two of you be compared?"

"Indeed, we can't. Weston's conditions are far better than mine were back then." Raven clicked his tongue. "He's stronger physically than I was, has more money on hand, and most importantly, he has a family."

Denise had been prepared to argue back, but upon hearing those words, she fell silent.

Denise's brows suddenly relaxed, and a trace of astonishment appeared in her eyes.
