"I don't have any purpose, no, I need to sober up, I might have drunk too much..." Frank was stunned. What did this mage lady mean? Why couldn't he understand? It was only half a liter of wine, was he really drunk?
Seeing Frank squatting to the side, trying to clear his head, Emma was a little confused. Wasn't he supposed to be a silent, hidden master? Why did he look genuinely drunk?
Whether you're drunk or faking it, we're at the dock now. If I can just snatch a boat, I can use Wind Magic to propel the sails, and no one here can catch me.
No sooner said than done, Emma had never moved so fast in her life. She rushed into an unattended small boat on the dock and quickly chanted a Wind Magic Sandstorm Technique. This spell's purpose was to use the wind to stir up dust and obscure the enemy's vision. Simply put, it allowed the wind to kick up sand and get into people's eyes.
This was the sea, so there was no sand, but the effect was unexpectedly good. A strong gust of wind blew, and the small sailboat lurched away from the dock.
Unfortunately, that was the extent of her good fortune. The rope on the small boat was still firmly tied to the dock. Emma lost her balance and fell onto the deck, twisting her ankle.
Putting aside Emma's thrilling escape, Holmes Kerry had already found Medical Unit 1 in the backyard. Medical Unit 1 was recounting the events of meeting Emma.
It was 3:10 PM, almost time for afternoon tea. Medical Unit 1 saw Miss Emma climb out of its window and, after a difficult rope descent, land safely on the grass in the backyard.
At this point, Medical Unit 1 noticed that Miss Emma's complexion wasn't good and her breathing was irregular, possibly due to strenuous climbing. Following its service protocol as a medical robot, it approached her proactively and asked if she needed a check-up.
"So, Miss Emma was still in the castle at 3:10 PM." It was now 3:45 PM, meaning Emma had been missing for only about half an hour. The guard at the only gate hadn't seen Miss Emma leave.
From this, Kerry immediately deduced the possible situation. Many servants were gathered around Kerry. Seeing him deep in thought, they held their breath, feeling that the truth was about to be revealed.
"Eliminate all impossibilities, and whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth..." Kerry muttered to himself.
Mm-hmm, everyone was waiting for Lord's truth, and the atmosphere was very tense.
"The Faglan people have a custom of climbing out of windows on their birthdays and then hiding!" Kerry stated with great certainty.
What else could it be? She'd only been gone 30 minutes, what was the big fuss about? Maybe it was a game of hide-and-seek before the birthday party?
Everyone was dumbfounded, but the Lord's thinking didn't seem entirely wrong. She had indeed only been gone 30 minutes, so what was the big deal? She wasn't a child; a 14-year-old girl was practically a young lady.
"Those who aren't busy this afternoon, search the castle. Miss Emma might be hiding somewhere. Perhaps finding her will bring a surprise." Kerry suddenly thought that playing hide-and-seek before the birthday party didn't sound too bad, and he led a group of old and young servants to search the castle.
"Report to Mrs. Wesley, nothing in the water tank."
"Report to Mrs. Wesley, only a mouse was found in the storage locker. It has been humanely dispatched."
"Report to Butler Carson, the spiderwebs in the basement are still intact, so no one should have gone down there."
"Stop slacking off and go look," Carson urged. With so many people searching, did this kid think he could get away with being lazy?
"Report to Lord, there are only wine bottles under Frank's bed."
It was almost 6 PM, and the hide-and-seek game had been going on for over two hours. Everyone had searched almost the entire castle but hadn't found Miss Emma.
People suddenly held the profession of mage in high regard. At least during hide-and-seek, no one could easily find a mage, right?
Frank returned to the castle just before 6 PM, in time for the party.
It took too long to sober up, but thankfully he made it back. He just didn't know why Miss Emma hadn't come ashore to return to the castle to prepare for dinner.
Although everyone was secretly preparing a birthday party for Emma, by the afternoon, they could probably guess what was going on just by looking at the castle's decorations.
Frank, filled with doubt, moved Maria back to the stable. Suddenly, he noticed someone sneakily rummaging around in Maria's stable.
"Hey, you, what are you doing? Trying to do something to my Maria?" The stable was Maria's private territory. If someone came in suddenly, they definitely weren't up to any good.
"Oh, it's Frank. I have no interest in your Maria. I'm just following orders to find Miss Emma, who's hiding." The servant, whose name Frank couldn't remember, replied.
When Kerry saw Frank rushing to meet him, he was in a bad mood. He knew that Frank was supposed to pick up a batch of living supplies from the dock that afternoon. Not only had the guy been drinking on duty, but he'd also been drunk driving.
Damn it, I used to think you were a master and drunk driving was safe, but now what are you pretending to be a master for? Don't you know drunk driving can kill people?
"Young master, I know where Miss Emma is. She's practicing sailing at the dock." Frank didn't notice Kerry's darkening expression and continued speaking as if expecting praise and reward.
"What time is it now? What is she still practicing sailing for?" Kerry was very confused. Dinner was always at 6 PM every night, why did she still have the mood to practice sailing? Could it be part of a birthday custom?
"Everyone stop searching. Miss Emma is practicing sailing. You guys prepare for the evening party. I'll go get Miss Emma back." Kerry took out the newly purchased four-wheel-drive beach buggy.
With micro-nuclear power, low noise, and a top speed of 120 mph on good roads, its off-road capabilities were also very powerful, making it an indispensable means of transportation on the island.
After a low rumble, Kerry felt like he had just stepped on the accelerator and already reached his destination, the northern dock.
He didn't know if the car was really that good or if South Australia Island was just too small.
When Kerry arrived at the dock, he saw Emma from afar struggling to control the sails, trying to steer the boat. However, this old-fashioned sailboat required considerable skill to handle. Without months of practice, fishermen couldn't manage to sail it properly.
It was very dangerous for Emma, who had no experienced teacher. After all, sailboats could easily capsize.
"Miss Emma! Come ashore and come back to the castle with me. Many people are waiting..." Kerry, riding the beach buggy, quickly arrived at the dock and shouted loudly from the berth closest to Emma's small boat.
"Oh, God, I've been discovered? They came so fast." Emma despaired. She hadn't expected Kerry to find her in just two or three hours. Well, actually, it had been quite a long time.
She had only just started to get the hang of sailing when the pursuers arrived. It seemed she was doomed this time.
