Emma was born into the Watson family, a major noble house of the Fagran Empire. Her father, Marquis Watson, held influence in the Empire's third tier of power, commanded a Cuirassier Knight Order, and was an 8th-level Sky Knight. Emma initially lived a sheltered noble life and expected a conventional aristocratic future. 34

Imperial guards later surrounded the Watson estate and arrested its inhabitants, including her father. Emma escaped the city with her stepmother, Marquis Watson's third concubine, and was taken to the weakened wandering mage Gandalf for protection.
