Josh had no idea how vast Hungary's Dark Forest was, but he knew he had already been walking through it for ten days!
Yes, ten days had passed since Garen punched an almost fully grown Tree Peak Dragon to death. Those ten days had been unbearably boring for Josh, because they had run into absolutely nothing! Thankfully, there had been that Tree Peak Dragon Garen had claimed first blood from. Otherwise, they might have starved to death in this forest.
"Thank Merlin, we made it here so smoothly."
Fular thought things were pretty good. No danger and no trouble were naturally for the best. Though, to be honest, he was not afraid of trouble either. If something was truly too much to handle, they could just run. But these people's goal was the deepest part of the Dark Forest, and if he really ran off, he would be done for.
"We're already at the edge of the innermost region of the Dark Forest. I think you can all feel this unusual mana torrent, right? This thing can completely disrupt any kind of teleportation magic."
Fular led Josh and the others around for a while before quickly finding a sign. It bore a warning. Clearly, staff from before had come here and left this warning behind. Fular did not explain who those staff members were, but it was easy enough to imagine that they might no longer be around.
Josh had already sensed the unusual flow of magic when he approached this area. It was very strange. Just as Fular had said, it had formed naturally. Perhaps it was caused by the way the trees grew, the arrangement of the hills, or the distribution of the creatures living here.
In any case, it was extremely peculiar. Yet Josh unexpectedly sensed a scorching power within it. He could not possibly be mistaken—it was the fluctuation of extremely active Fire attribute magic elements. A thought suddenly came to him. Could there be an elemental mage in there?
That truly surprised Josh, but he did not panic. The magical fluctuations were intense, yet their quality did not seem to have been enhanced. They looked about the same as Dumbledore's had been before, though they were definitely around the fourth tier.
"Did you feel it, Josh?"
Garen nudged Josh with his elbow. He had noticed that strange magical fluctuation too. In fact, not only him—Dumbledore had instinctively drawn his wand. His own magical affinity was fire, making him even more sensitive. Though he could not accurately judge the quality of the mana yet, its level was already close to Josh's.
"Of course I felt it. That's some pretty good Fire element power." Josh nodded. "Just be careful. The mana level is decent, but the quality is unfortunately low. Still, it's not something you can deal with easily. Oh, no—you can, Garen, as long as you can Silence him first, then spin, and follow up with a Great Sword."
"Are you mocking me?"
"No, that's just your basic move."
Josh grinned and walked straight into what could be considered the forbidden zone of the Dark Forest. Garen shrugged and followed. He had long since gotten used to Josh's nonsensical teasing. He had never been to a more modern world, so he did not really understand what Josh meant.
With the two of them moving, Dumbledore and Fular naturally followed as well. Perhaps Josh and Garen's banter had relaxed Dumbledore somewhat. He felt that as long as Josh was here, there should not be any problems. Besides, the magical fluctuation did not feel like it belonged to a person. It felt more like a magical artifact.
"I didn't expect the Magic elements in this place to be so active. Still, the Fire element is by far the most abundant."
The deeper they went, the more Josh marveled at the place. It was quite good. Although it was far inferior to the Muya Continent, perhaps due to the limits of this world's level, the concentration of Magic elements here was astonishing by this world's standards. Josh was even wondering how effective his Meditation class would be if it were held here.
"It truly is incredibly concentrated. As soon as I came in, I could clearly feel the House-elves within me becoming more active."
Dumbledore nodded as well. He could be said to sense it more clearly than anyone else. Even he, not just Josh, had begun eyeing this place. Of course, he was thinking about something else too—whether there might be more places like this, places others found dangerous but which held endless surprises.
Dumbledore even considered thoroughly searching the Forbidden Forest after returning to the United Kingdom, or perhaps exploring those places in Wales known for producing dragons. Maybe he would find some unexpected gains.
In this area that almost no one had set foot in, Fular's role as a guide had basically become useless. However, Josh and the others did not have to worry about getting lost. It was simple—under Josh's lead, they followed that magical fluctuation all the way forward, and Fular could only follow along.
The difference between the inner forest and the outskirts was truly enormous. Aside from the dense elements, more powerful beasts had begun attacking them. That would have been nearly unimaginable in the outer forest, but here, it had become perfectly normal.
Although many magical creatures attacked them throughout the morning, Garen casually dealt with all of them. The sight made Fular's heart pound. He felt that this sturdy man named Garen was not a wizard, but a warrior. He was actually right. Still, warriors in this world did not seem to be that powerful.
"After an entire morning, not a single dragon attacked us? Did we get it wrong? Are there really no dragons in here?"
Holding a saber-toothed tiger that was constantly struggling in his grasp, Garen scratched his head and asked. To be honest, he had been rather interested at first. Dragon Knights did not even exist on the Muya Continent, much less Valoran. Yet he was starting to feel disappointed. The dragons here seemed a little small.
What disappointed him even more was that ten days had passed, and this was already the eleventh day, but they had only encountered one dragon—and it had been the kind he killed with a casual blow. Garen was beginning to wonder whether this forest even contained any true dragons at all.
"I swear on my life that there are definitely dragons in here!"
Fular was somewhat embarrassed, but his response was firm. After all, this was the country where his family had lived for generations, and he knew something about it. The Ministry of Magic also had records on this place, clearly stating that the strongest dragon lived in the deepest part of the Dark Forest. The younger dragons outside were basically considered its descendants.
Why that creature had never come out, however, was hard to understand. Fular did not believe such a legend, passed down through generations, had come from nothing. Besides, he had never intended to go so deep in the first place. It was just that the dragons living on the outskirts seemed completely uninterested in them and had not attacked at all.
"Enough, let's keep moving. We need to pick up the pace. I can feel that the magical fluctuations somewhere not far from us are getting stronger and stronger. Let's go see what exactly is going on."
Josh timely cut off their argument. He frowned, because the Fire element mana here was growing stronger and stronger. It had not reached a level that made him feel threatened, but it would still be troublesome. And he could tell that this did not seem to be a mage at all, but some kind of magical artifact.
Magical artifacts of this level were nothing unusual on the Muya Continent, but in this world, they should practically not exist! This world had originally not even possessed meditation, much less Magic elements. Josh wondered whether someone else had come to this world too.
Could I have run into a fellow transmigrator? The kind who came to this world hundreds of years ago, created a series of world-shaking things, then retired here with several beautiful wives, waiting for the plot to begin before coming out to stir up the world?
Josh rubbed his chin. If he truly encountered someone like that, then things would really be troublesome. Put simply, the other person would have several hundred years of advantage over him. He would be like a bandit barging into someone else's backyard. He might be strong, but he had no idea whether he could overpower the local master.
With such conflicted thoughts, Josh continued toward that location. However, he had now confirmed that there really were dragons here. As they headed deeper into the forest, both Josh and Garen noticed dragon silhouettes appearing overhead at some point.
One, two, then gradually more and more. Some particularly curious dragons even landed nearby, watching them through the trees. Strangely, these dragons did not attack them. They simply surrounded them, and Josh could even sense their curiosity.
Though these dragons showed some inclination to attack, the moment Josh released his mana, they immediately behaved themselves. They all stayed far away around them, roaring every so often. Josh could not be bothered with them. Although he really had come to capture dragons, these creatures did not meet his expectations. More importantly, Josh was focused on the magical artifact radiating Fire elements.
Finally, after several hours—and after Josh had insisted they use brooms—the group finally arrived at the source of the magical fluctuations. Yet Josh had not expected that what appeared before them would not be a great horde of dragons waiting for them, nor some seemingly young but actually ancient person.
It was a fucking giant eyeball! Josh was completely dumbfounded. Since when had Sauron transmigrated into the world of Harry Potter?
This eyeball was enormous, and one glance was enough to tell that it was not human. The entire eyeball looked somewhat translucent, with countless streams of red light flowing within it. At the very center was a long, narrow pupil. At first glance, it really did resemble a magic eye.
"Merlin above, what is that? Why are there such abundant Fire elements inside it?"
Dumbledore immediately lost his composure upon seeing the Giant eyeball. At a glance, he saw that what flowed inside it was entirely Fire elements, at an extremely high concentration. One could imagine that if all of those Fire elements entered his body, his mana level would likely rise directly to Josh's current level!
Dumbledore took a deep breath and slowly approached the Giant eyeball, wanting to examine it closely. But soon, a voice that made his ears go numb came down from the sky:
"Fire elements? What are those?"
