Su Yue carried a steaming bowl of vegetable and shredded-pork noodles into the dining room and set it on the table.
Steam curled up from the bowl like a thin veil.
Then she raised her voice toward the living room and called, "Lin Li, the noodles are ready. Come eat!"
The moment she called out, Su Yue soon heard a burst of hurried footsteps, the sound drawing closer from afar.
Lin Li hurried into the dining room, an eager look on his face.
Seeing how eager he was, Su Yue's smile grew even brighter. She gently handed him the chopsticks, her movements graceful and natural.
After taking the chopsticks, Lin Li asked, "Why is there only one bowl? Aren't you eating?"
Su Yue smiled. "I have some too. I'm going to serve it now, so you eat first."
Lin Li nodded, then impatiently took a sip of the noodle broth. It trickled slowly down his throat, and a warm current spread through his entire body.
Though vegetable and shredded-pork noodles were simple, getting the flavor this perfect was enough to prove how remarkable Su Yue's cooking was.
Su Yue returned to the dining room with light steps, carrying a small bowl of noodles. She pulled out a chair and sat down.
She saw Lin Li devouring his noodles, happiness radiating from his face. With a beaming smile, she asked, "Is it all right?"
Hearing this, Lin Li quickly looked up at Su Yue. His mouth was still stuffed with noodles. After swallowing the food, he gave her a thumbs-up and praised her, "What do you mean, 'all right'?
If this counts as 'all right,' then there's no such thing as delicious noodles in this world."
