Zhang Zhao immediately scrambled to his feet, his expression anxious as he paced back and forth beside the bonfire, muttering to himself.
"It's always better to be safe than sorry. We'd better not call him again of our own accord."
Mu Qi nodded. "Just not calling isn't enough. I need to turn off my phone."
With that, he began operating it, tapping rapidly on the screen before shutting the phone down at once.
Zhang Zhao pulled his phone from his pocket and handed it to Mu Qi. "If we need to make any calls, use my phone."
"I'll call around and ask the others. Maybe someone knows what's going on with the contact person."
Zhang Zhao handed his phone to his companion, then stood to one side with a solemn expression, waiting for the result.
Mu Qi called a friend's number. After exchanging a few pleasantries, he began asking about the contact person.
After making several calls, Mu Qi hung up. Zhang Zhao impatiently asked, "How did it go? Did you find out anything?"
Mu Qi shook his head regretfully. "None of the people I asked knew anything. But one person told me that yesterday, the organization summoned all the contact persons to a meeting. During the meeting, none of them were allowed to have any contact with the outside world."
Hearing that, Zhang Zhao breathed a sigh of relief and smiled. "So that's what happened. You scared me. As long as nothing went wrong, that's all that matters."
Mu Qi, however, did not fully relax. "The organization did summon all the contact persons to a meeting, but apparently some of them were absent. We don't know yet whether our contact person was one of those who didn't show up."
Their relaxed mood tightened once again at those words.
