Late at night, with the streets quiet, fewer and fewer cars passed by.
In the park, two figures hid among the grass in a landscaped strip, their eyes burning as they watched the flourishing bamboo grove in the distance.
The Little White Cat and Little Black Cat had been in the park for a while. They had hidden in the grass for a long time without making a sound, displaying remarkable patience.
Suddenly, a gray figure appeared in the bamboo grove.
A gray rat crept out of the bamboo grove, its eyes nervously scanning the surroundings as if worried that a natural enemy might suddenly pounce out.
The gray rat was being so cautious because, over the past few months, quite a few of its companions had been captured by terrifying natural enemies.
After observing for several seconds and finding no danger, the gray rat grew bolder and quickly ran into the distance.
As it passed the landscaped strip, a black figure suddenly leaped out of the grass.
The instant the gray rat saw Little Black Cat, it was scared out of its wits. What it feared most had still happened. Without time to think, it fled toward the right in blind panic.
Unfortunately, choosing to run away now was already too late.
Little Black Cat pounced like lightning, pinning the gray rat precisely to the ground.
"Eek, eek, eek!" The cries rang out, sharp enough to make it clear how despairing the gray rat felt at that moment.
Little Black Cat suddenly moved the paw holding down the gray rat. Feeling the pressure on its body disappear, the gray rat froze, then was overjoyed.
Just as it was about to get up and flee, it had only run a few steps before Little Black Cat pinned it down again.
