"Over the past six months, the organization sent three waves of people to investigate, but they couldn't find the slightest clue. In the end, they had no choice but to let the matter drop."
Mu Qi paused, lowering his voice even further.
"I heard from a friend in one of the organization's core departments that, last time, someone discovered the mole might be connected to a certain leader on the other side of the deal. But just after they got their hands on a lead, they suddenly disappeared. There's still been no word from them."
Zhang Zhao's eyes suddenly lit up, as if he had thought of something. He leaned closer to Mu Qi and said in a low voice,
"Couldn't we set a trap and lure the mole out using entrapment?
"For example, we could deliberately leak false transaction information and see who passes it on..."
Mu Qi smiled and spread his hands. "You were able to think of that. Do you really think the organization's higher-ups couldn't?
"They might have started laying the groundwork long ago; they simply didn't tell us people carrying out the mission... Just wait for news. One day, the truth will come to light."
The two stopped talking and leaned against the old tree, waiting quietly.
The night grew deeper and deeper. A little moonlight cast mottled shadows on the ground. Now and then, the chirping of insects rang out, coming from far away, drawing closer, then gradually fading.
Time passed second by second. The appointed meeting time had long since arrived, yet those people still failed to appear.
Mu Qi glanced at his phone. The time on the screen showed that fifteen minutes had passed since the agreed-upon time. His brows drew together slightly, and his fingers rapped unconsciously against the tree trunk.
