Lin Li's running speed was astonishingly fast. In just a few breaths, he had reached the center of the square.
From the corner of his eye, he saw the stone men that had rushed into the square quickly spread out, closing in on him from all directions. Clearly, they intended to form a cordon and trap him to death in the middle of the square.
"Too slow." A disdainful smile curled at the corner of Lin Li's mouth, while his feet never slowed. "You're still far too green to surround me."
The next second, the smile vanished from his face.
Not far to his side, the five-meter-tall beast-shaped stone statue... a statue carved in the likeness of a ferocious tiger... suddenly moved.
The statue's eyes had originally been hollowed-out stone, but now they glowed with a faint red light. Its enormous body leaped down from the stone platform and landed on the flagstones with a BOOM, kicking up a cloud of dust as it firmly blocked Lin Li's path forward.
"Not good." Lin Li's heart jolted, and he immediately understood. "These statues are alive. In essence, they're no different from those stone men—and they're even stronger."
Just as he had expected, after the first statue began moving, the other statues in the square awakened one after another.
The humanoid soldier statues drew the stone swords from their waists. The eagle statues spread their enormous wings and let out sharp cries. Their eyes all lit up with red light as they closed in from every direction, completely blocking every route forward.
Behind him, the cordon formed by the stone men had already enclosed most of the square, sealing off his retreat completely.
