Liu Jialin said nothing, merely giving a slight nod as she took the bullet. She swiftly completed the sequence of ejecting the spent round and loading a new one, then aimed the muzzle at the Sea Snake exotic beast once more.
However, the Sea Snake, having suffered once already, had grown wiser. The moment it was wounded, it sank beneath the water, leaving behind only rings of blood-red ripples spreading across the sea.
The deep-blue seawater became its finest cover. Trying to aim for its vital point again was now far more difficult.
Although it had suffered a serious injury, that had instead fully awakened the ferocity buried within the Sea Snake.
It swam rapidly underwater, its massive body churning the seawater. Wave after wave, each more than ten meters high, surged up in succession and crashed toward the Patrol Ship like mountains collapsing and seas overturning.
Upon closer inspection, one could see tiny shards of ice mixed into the waves. Clearly, the Sea Snake had deliberately created them underwater using its ability, making the waves even more powerful than before.
The Sea Snake had planned everything perfectly. As long as it overturned the Patrol Ship and sent the humans into the water, it could use its home-field advantage beneath the waves to swallow them one by one.
"Everyone, stay alert! Break the waves!" Liu Jialin saw through its intentions at a glance and issued a sharp command.
The investigators on deck immediately sprang into action, each using their abilities.
Some released blade after blade of sharp wind, cleaving the waves apart. Others urged their abilities to condense thick walls of ice, blocking the waves' impact. Still others created air shields, building temporary barriers around the ship.
