Su Yue replied with a smile, "Actually, it's not that bad. As long as it isn't spoiled, cooking it thoroughly should keep you from getting a stomachache.
"By the way, how many tasks did you handle this morning? Did they go smoothly?"
Lin Li replied, "Two tasks. They went pretty smoothly, and I didn't have to put in much effort.
"I'll try to wrap up three tasks this afternoon. The sooner I'm done, the sooner I can rest."
Su Yue sent him a concerned emoji and said, "All right. Be careful, and if you run into any lawbreakers you can't handle, remember to ask for backup right away. Don't try to tough it out."
"I know. Don't worry."
The two chatted briefly, then ended the conversation.
Lin Li quickly finished lunch and paid the bill before leaving the restaurant. He found his silver-white van by the roadside, started it, and sped off. Before long, it had disappeared at the end of the street.
Next, he was headed to the site of his next task... a factory complex built just last year.
According to the information he'd received, something strange had been happening there recently. Some of the equipment in the complex kept breaking down, and supplies had gone missing. They suspected a Cultivator was responsible, so Lin Li had to investigate and find out what was going on.
Dark clouds gathered thickly overhead, like cotton wadding soaked in ink, spreading rapidly across the sky.
Before long, heavy clouds blanketed most of the city. Even the sunlight, doing its utmost, could barely pierce the cloud cover and reach the ground.
The light dimmed abruptly beneath the clouds. The gloomy, oppressive darkness made it feel as though night had arrived ahead of schedule, and even the air carried a damp chill.
