Void Light Realm?
What kind of damned place was this?
Just as Hua Qiang was dumbfounded, the ground beneath his feet suddenly rippled, and grayish-purple mist crawled up his trouser legs like a living thing.
His heart jolted. He hurriedly retreated two steps, then jumped a few times in place. Only then did that sensation of something clinging to him fade away.
With a thought, the Dao Sword appeared in his hand. The patch of grayish-purple mist that had been gathering toward him seemed to have encountered its natural enemy and rapidly retreated.
Hua Qiang swept his gaze around. The spreading mist seemed to be stirred by an invisible giant hand, sometimes gathering into whirlpools, sometimes transforming into sharp mist blades that skimmed past his ears. The air was thick with the fishy sweetness of rust mixed with rotting leaves.

A warning of danger beyond the senses shot through his spine like an electric current, and cold sweat instantly soaked his back.
He instinctively spun and swung his sword, but the blade only sliced apart a floating mass of mist.
Under the moonlight, the purple mist refracted bizarre rainbow hues, twisting the faintly visible distant mountains into the outlines of fanged, clawing beasts. Even the winding river beneath his feet shimmered with ghostly blue light like phosphorus fire.
"This..."
The grayish-purple mist blocked his vision, and Hua Qiang spread out his divine sense like a fishing net.
In an instant, his entire body froze in place.
Deep within the mist, countless half-transparent giant shadows were slowly stretching their bodies. Their fur gleamed with a mother-of-pearl luster, and whenever their claws tore through the void, they left behind web-like black cracks.
