Background
Athena is an unyielding god whose divine identities include Medusa, Athena, and Metis. Her shifting identities stem from the Earth Mother Goddess's defeat by the Steel Hero; among these goddesses, Athena holds an especially elevated position. Restoring her Trinity form returns her to the ancient Earth Mother Goddess state, placing her among the strongest gods of her world. 115
Before her appearance, the Gorgon Stone was held by Erica's Bronze Black Cross. The artifact expresses Athena's serpentine divinity, and its possession draws Athena to its holder. Chen Mu specifically requested the stone to lure Athena out. 75 115
Athena evaded Marquis Voban's pursuit in Japan until she encountered Chen Mu and Yuri Maritani. Though she sensed danger from Chen Mu, she initially believed him to be neither an unyielding god nor a God Slayer and underestimated the scale of his power. 115 118 119
Appearance
Athena can freely shift between a childlike form and a teenage form. Her initial manifestation in Japan was an owl that transformed into a girl who appeared no older than ten. 118 165
- Child form — Short silver hair; a woolen hat shaped like cat ears; outwardly resembles a young child. 118
- Trinity form — After fusing with the Gorgon Stone, her body changes into that of a girl approximately sixteen or seventeen years old. 120
- Transformation — Her ability to alternate between child and adult forms initially misleads March 7th and Stelle about her true nature. 165 175
Personality
As the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena is perceptive, cautious, and capable of recognizing threats that others cannot explain. Even after reclaiming her peak power, she trusted her intuition about Chen Mu and requested time to familiarize herself with her restored strength before challenging him. 119 120
She is also intensely proud. Athena viewed Chen Mu's proposal—that she obey him if defeated at full strength—as presumptuous, yet accepted it because the Goddess of Victory refused to retreat from a challenge. She chose to face Aha despite knowing the overwhelming difference in power rather than surrender without resistance. 119 164
Following her defeat, Athena accepts Chen Mu's superiority and her agreed service, though she retains a playful, provocative streak. She begins calling him “Master,” deliberately drawing reactions from the Stellaron Express crew, and later openly chooses to remain with him. 125 140 171
Abilities & Skills
Trinity Restoration
Athena's peak state is unlocked through the Gorgon Stone, which reunites her with her ancient Earth Mother Goddess identity. 115 120
- Restores her three-in-one form and greatly amplifies her divine aura and strength. 120
- Her restored power was sufficient to defeat Marquis Voban with ease. 121 122
- The transformation changes her body from a childlike appearance to a teenage form. 120
- Her full power is dependent on the Gorgon Stone; losing it causes her to revert after severe defeat. 123
Darkness Authority
As a goddess connected to the underworld and darkness, Athena can impose night on a vast scale through a Word Spirit. 123
- Removes sunlight across countless locations. 123
- Extinguishes electric lights and candle flames alongside the sun's illumination. 123
- Used as part of her full-force challenge against Chen Mu. 123
- She invoked the same darkness-based authority in her attempted assault on Aha. 164
Death Kiss
Athena's strongest known authority is an execution technique activated through a kiss. 125 126
- Requires physical contact through a kiss to activate. 126
- Athena poured all the power available to her into the technique as a final attempt against Chen Mu. 125
- It failed completely against Chen Mu, ending her remaining resistance to serving him. 125
Underworld Authority
Athena possesses authority connected to death and the underworld. 120 178
- Can summon the souls of the dead and make them members of her underworld. 178
- Is not particularly adept at healing; she can handle minor injuries and illnesses but could not treat a fatally wounded Cloud Cavalry soldier. 178
Divine Combat
Athena is an exceptionally powerful combatant once restored to her Trinity form. 120 122
- Entered Erica and Marquis Voban's battle specifically to use Voban as practice for her recovered power. 120 121
- Easily defeated Marquis Voban after mastering her restored strength. 122
- Coordinated with Yakumo Yukari against Aha and chose to attack first rather than be taken away. 164 165
- Aha considered her power inherently formidable, while noting that she was still far too weak to challenge an Aeon directly. 164 165
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Gorgon Stone — An obsidian medal engraved with a Gorgon. It embodies Athena's serpentine divinity and enables her return to her Trinity form. 115 120
- Space Station restraints — During Chen Mu and Herta's research preparations, Athena is secured to an experimental table with restraints she cannot break. 215
Relationships
- Chen Mu — Defeated Athena at her peak, healed her afterward, and became her master under the condition she accepted before their duel. She later chooses to remain with him and calls him “Master.” 119 124 125 140 171
- Erica Blandelli — Erica possessed the Gorgon Stone before giving it to Chen Mu. Athena resented Erica's involvement but agreed not to harm her while preparing for her duel with Chen Mu. 115 120
- Marquis Voban — Voban hunted Athena while she lacked the Gorgon Stone. After recovering her Trinity form, Athena confronts and easily defeats him in retaliation. 115 121 122
- Yuri Maritani — Yuri recognizes Athena's identity and fears the consequences of her recovering the Gorgon Stone. Athena dismisses Yuri's attempts to stop her restoration. 118 120
- Yakumo Yukari — Fought alongside Athena against Aha in the Simulated Universe. The two attacked in coordination when Aha attempted to take them away. 164 165
- March 7th and Stelle — Initially underestimate Athena because of her child form, then become wary after learning she can transform. Both defend her against Aha and oppose her request to share Chen Mu's room. 164 165 175
- Himeko — Welcomes Athena as a new Stellaron Express companion, though she later supports assigning Athena her own room after learning about her adult form. 175
- Herta — Recognizes Athena's unusual nature and wishes to research her, but respects her initial refusal. She later assists Chen Mu with preparations to study Athena. 169 215
Story Role / Major Arcs
Japan and the Gorgon Stone
Athena's arrival is anticipated after Erica acquires the Gorgon Stone. Chen Mu asks to be notified when Athena appears, intending to capture a god for research rather than kill one for authority. 75
In Japan, Athena seeks the Gorgon Stone from Chen Mu. He offers to return it only if she will obey him wholeheartedly should he defeat her after she regains her full Trinity power. Athena accepts the wager rather than concede to a human challenger. 119
Trinity Restoration and Defeat
Athena fuses with the Gorgon Stone, restores her Trinity form, and uses Marquis Voban to test her recovered strength. After defeating Voban, she challenges Chen Mu and plunges the world into darkness. 120 122 123
Chen Mu defeats her effortlessly with a colossal manifestation of the shield of Preservation, leaving her unconscious in her child form. He heals her afterward, and her final Death Kiss attempt fails; Athena then accepts her fate as his servant. 123 124 125
Life in the Star Rail World
Chen Mu brings Athena to his world, where she realizes he originated beyond her own world and becomes more cautious about his true capabilities. 126
She later travels with Chen Mu, March 7th, Stelle, and Yakumo Yukari to the Space Station, begins calling Chen Mu “Master,” and participates in the Simulated Universe expedition. 140 163
When Aha targets Athena and Yakumo Yukari because they are outsiders to the Simulated Universe, Athena fights back despite the impossible power gap. Chen Mu ultimately intervenes and stops Aha. 164 165
Athena elects to remain with Chen Mu's group and becomes a member of the Stellaron Express's traveling party. 171 175
Divine Research
Chen Mu eventually reminds Athena of her obligation to obey him and reveals that his original purpose in bringing her across worlds was to study the nature and structure of gods. Athena agrees, though she is visibly nervous about becoming the subject of his research. 185
At the Space Station laboratory, Herta helps secure Athena to an experimental table for the planned collection of data on her divine essence. 215
