There were only a handful of beings who could compete for the title of strongest magus, and Merlin was in no way inferior to King of Magecraft Solomon in either fame or legendary anecdotes. He was absolutely a strong candidate qualified to compete for the Position of Strongest.
Legend had it that Merlin's mother was a princess of Wales, while his father was a supernatural Nightmare Demon born between the moon and the earth. Thus, he was a half-breed of human and Nightmare Demon, possessing both human characteristics and the power of a Nightmare Demon. Even in his youth, he had already possessed an exceptionally outstanding aptitude for "Clairvoyance" and had made many prophecies, spreading his fame far and wide.
This man had helped Arthur's father marry his queen, assisted in the birth of King Arthur, who possessed the bloodline of the Red Dragon, and had guarded Arthur from before his birth and ever since. He had taught the young King Arthur a great deal of knowledge, like an adoptive father witnessing his growth, and had ultimately aided her in ascending the throne and becoming the ruler of Britain.
