A Mystery After Another
Enkidu's death was indeed Ishtar's inescapable responsibility.
If not for her request, if not for the gods' indulgence toward her, Enkidu would not have died.
It could be said that Enkidu's death had been caused entirely by Ishtar, making the goddess the culprit behind it all.
In the past, Ishtar had always felt that she had done nothing wrong, but now, after hearing Siduri's words, the goddess felt somewhat ashamed.
On one hand, as the Chief Priest of Uruk's ritual grounds, Siduri had always been extremely devout toward her, the City God, surpassing even the Head Miko of the Miko Hall. Ishtar had thus always regarded Siduri as one of her own.
On the other hand, in Ishtar's current view, her past actions had indeed gone too far.
That thought had certainly arisen because she had fused with a human personality, but even so, the current Ishtar still couldn't help thinking, Why did I have to go so far?
