  • Small forehead horns.
  • Short sheep ears.
  • Fair complexion.
  • Usually presents herself with a soft, gentle manner while working as a healer. 9 26

Personality

Yang Man initially cultivates the image of a gentle, fragile healing martial artist. She quickly recognized Zhang Qing’s unusual resistance to Spirit Pill erosion and recruited him with authority, resources, and carefully defined obligations. 26 31

Her ambition is focused on the Sequence path and on restoring her standing within Sheep Emperor City. She is willing to gamble resources, lives, and political capital for advancement, viewing caution as incompatible with becoming a venerable ancestor. 47 249

Conversely, Yang Man is a capable collaborator: she manages supplies, forms alliances across Imperial Cities, and builds mutually beneficial structures around the Cooperation Sequence. 155 176 346

Abilities & Skills

Healing Martial Arts

Yang Man is a healing martial artist, also called an apothecary. Her healing manifests as a faint green light and rapidly restores injuries after combat. 9

  • Healed Guan Yutian, Pusan, and Zhang Qing after the Long-armed Ghoul battle. 9
  • Zhang Qing’s first treatment by her triggered his first contact with Ghoulification Power, granting him +5 Constitution. 9
  • Healing martial artists are considered valuable but physically vulnerable combatants. 9 26

Alchemy and Spirit Pill Refinement

Yang Man processes spirit medicines and creates specialized pills, using rare materials and unusual catalysts. 26 33

  • Refined the high-grade Blood Transformation Pill from Pagoda Tree Ghoul heart blood and a Ghoul Blood Flower. 33
  • Warned Zhang Qing against consuming large quantities of Spirit Pills in a short period, as it could damage a cultivator’s future potential. 31
  • Sought a “Heart of Kindness” as a medicinal catalyst for a forgotten formula. 25

Ghoul Blood Warrior Research

Yang Man’s long-running research attempts to fuse ghoul characteristics with humanoid subjects in pursuit of a stable Ghoul Blood Warrior—and ultimately clues to the Sequence path. 47 51

  • Her experiments produced many deaths, failures, and subjects who lost control through ghoulification. 51 78 97
  • Hu Ya became her sole stable survivor and first successful Ghoul Blood Warrior. 75 78
  • Hu Ya could ghoulify and revert to human form, a result Zhang Qing considered a “perfect-level” Ghoul Blood Warrior. 77
  • Yang Man retained Hu Ya for observation after the other test subjects died or succumbed to ghoulification. 78

Royal Combat Arts

Yang Man concealed far greater combat ability than her role as an apothecary suggested. 120

  • Used the Sheep Royal Family secret art Tail Siphon to shed her earlier disguise and reveal Sunrise Realm strength. 120
  • Fought nearly ten Sunrise Realm combatants without immediately falling behind. 120
  • Uses a long sword and true qi in direct combat. 120 125

History

Zi City and the Ghoul Blood Hall

Yang Man first appeared in Zi City as a healer attached to Razor Hall. Though she behaved softly and professionally, Zhang Qing immediately recognized that her royal surname, high humanization, and Candlelight Realm strength marked her as an extraordinary Sheepfolk. 9

Within the Ghoul Blood Hall, she researched Spirit Pills, ghoul blood, and Forbidden Items while attempting to create Ghoul Blood Warriors. She recruited Zhang Qing after identifying his unusual resistance to Spirit Pill erosion, granting him squad-leader authority and supplying Spirit Pills in exchange for rare ghoul heart blood and materials. 26 27 33

Her experiments were partly driven by her hidden pursuit of the Sequence. Star Steel, Square Crystals, ghoul blood, and Chuan Hao’s transformation were all treated as possible pieces of a method that she did not yet fully understand. 47 50 78

Sequence Conflict in Zi City

She Ran’s arrival exposed Yang Man’s precarious position: although Zi City was Yang Man’s designated theater, she was an abandoned Sheep Royal Clan child with an incomplete path and limited support. 102

After Zhang Qing confronted her, Yang Man disclosed what she knew about Sequences: they develop incomparable mental power, can combine it with martial arts, and require a person to role-play a path shaped by their deepest desire. 103

During Zi City’s collapse, Yang Man revealed her Sunrise Realm cultivation and joined the battle directly. Zhang Qing later assisted her Sequence advancement, allowing her to stabilize her position through the Cooperation path. 120 125

Return to Sheep Emperor City

Yang Man’s successful entry into the core Cooperation Sequence restored influence to her maternal clan and returned her to the Sheep Emperor City succession struggle. Her anchor could not be placed on her clan’s representative, however, because her path had already become bound to Zhang Qing. 141

She rejected merely safe advancement. With Tyrant Army commander Yan He’s support, she risked twenty Fate Stones and ten years of military funds to create a false Tidal Phenomenon, intending to create a stage large enough for Zhang Qing’s future advancement. 249

Sole Prince and Imperial City Alliance

Yang Man expanded her influence through the Tyrant Army, alliances with the Rabbit Emperor City and Monkey Emperor City border forces, and cooperation with Zhang Qing. She proposed a “second-generation group” of Imperial City powers that could influence Imperial City decisions and support Zhang Qing’s path to Transcendence. 345 346

Her coalition overwhelmed her remaining Sheep Emperor City competitors, securing her recognition as the city’s sole prince with little direct bloodshed. 347

Later Activities

After Zhang Qing’s Ultimate Sublimation erased memories of him, Yang Man was among the first Highnesses to identify the gap in her own memories. She used conversations with Guan Huangsheng and the others to confirm that Great Xia was connected to the missing figure. 506 508

Following the Sheep Venerable’s death, Yang Man remained involved in Zhang Qing’s long-term plans and continued discussing the Dark Realm Universe’s future Law-based era with him. 601 641

Relationships

  • Zhang Qing — Recruited him as her sole field operative in the Ghoul Blood Hall, then became his Sequence-linked partner and principal political ally. Their Cooperation path lets each benefit from the other’s advancement. 26 125 346
  • Hu Ya — Yang Man’s first stable Ghoul Blood Warrior and most important experimental subject; Yang Man retained her for observation after nearly every other test subject failed. 75 78
  • Yun Xiaoxi — A fellow Sequence User who imposed the Succession Contract constraining Yang Man. They later worked alongside Zhang Qing despite their mistrust and history of manipulation. 127 155
  • She Ran — Snake Royal Clan member, initial rival for Yang Man’s Zi City theater, and originally Yang Man’s intended backup. 102 127
  • Yu An — Early Yu Family sponsor of Yang Man’s Ghoul Blood Warrior research; their relationship was transactional and strained by Yang Man’s constant resource demands. 25 47
  • Yan He — Commander of the Tyrant Army and Yang Man’s uncle; reluctantly supported her costly Fate Stone gamble. 249
  • Sheep Venerable — Yang Man’s royal superior and the source of the Cooperation authority central to her path. 150 391
