Bang! Bang! Bang!
The supervisor emptied his magazine at Bai Sheng without hesitation.
He was a Pathwalker of the [Erudition] Path, a biology expert whom Kasantiya's emperor had invited here years ago to conduct human experiments.
Though the risks were high, the reward upon completing the experiment would be proportionate: an invitation to the Genius Society.
It was only an invitation, but the supervisor was confident that he could earn the favor of Lord of Wisdom, the [Erudition] Aeon, and successfully join the Genius Society.
So now, he absolutely would not allow anyone to interfere with his experiment. It was his ticket to soaring to the top in a single step!
"You think something like that can kill me?"
Bai Sheng smiled. Seeing several timid people trying to flee, he flashed over and severed all the tendons in their hands and feet. Blood splattered across the floor amid their agonized howls. Finding the noise irritating, Bai Sheng kicked them one by one and sent them straight to sleep.
Seeing Bai Sheng's brutality, the supervisor could not help but panic.
"Y-You... what do you want? We can negotiate! Money? Power? Women? Whatever it is, I can give it to you! Leave now, and I can fulfill all your demands! I can overlook the fact that you broke in and even cover it up for you!"
The supervisor forced himself to remain calm, his eyes fixed tightly on Bai Sheng. The hand holding his gun was still trembling. He did not want to die—he was afraid of death! He had worked so hard for all these years. Why should anyone take everything from him?
"Tell me, once someone gets their hands on something they were never meant to touch, what do you think happens in the end? You're shaking pretty badly, so I'll answer for you.
"There are only two outcomes. Either they die miserably, covered in wounds, or they live on in miserable submission. And you... which will you choose?"
Bai Sheng flicked the blood off his light sword and unleashed a killing intent so intense that the supervisor dropped his gun. He did not want to die, nor did he want to give up the results of his years of research. Bai Sheng's meaning was clear: either die here for this pile of worthless papers, or give everything up, keep his head down, and never touch this field again.
Countless thoughts raced through the supervisor's mind. Yet in the face of death, his brain fed him the most dangerous possibility of all.
Just as he made up his mind to pick up the gun, he raised his head—and a gleaming green sword shadow pierced through his chest.
He stared in disbelief at the light sword protruding from his chest. Blood still clung to the blade, while blood continued to pour from his wound.
"No... I... won't accept this..."
The supervisor died. Dead as dead could be.
Bai Sheng pulled out his sword and frowned slightly at the blood on it. He flicked it again, and only then was the light sword finally clean.
After walking forward a few steps, Bai Sheng finally found Sister Pandora.
Sister Pandora was currently locked inside a transparent container. Bai Sheng did not waste any words; with one slash, he split the container apart and took Pandora out.
"Long time no see, Sister Pandora."
Bai Sheng greeted Sister Pandora in his heart.
"Long time no see. Put our matters aside for now—you should talk to Aatrox first. He's been driving me crazy these past few days."
Pandora's tone was filled with helplessness. On average, Aatrox asked her about Bai Sheng's whereabouts and when they would attack every ten seconds. He had thoroughly annoyed her.
"Alright."
Bai Sheng answered. This really could not be blamed on him. Who would have thought that bastard Prince had kept something in reserve specifically to ambush him?
If not for him, Bai Sheng would have finished everything long ago. By his calculations, he should have been heading to the Xianzhou to find "Real Name Online" by now.
Bai Sheng activated the spirit puppet. The patterns on Scythe Blade began to change. The originally purple-black scythe turned dark red, an unblinking eye appeared in its center, and a beating heart even grew from the back!
Unlike Pandora's own elegant and understated patterns, the markings on Scythe Blade were now wilder and more flamboyant, with an added touch of ferocity. A rough voice emerged from within it.
"Kid Bai! You finally contacted me! Do you want me to enter the planet?"
"Come on. You should be able to sense my location."
Bai Sheng also told Aatrox and Pandora about everything that had happened recently. Just as he was about to leave, he turned around and spotted a... hiss... thing that could probably be called a giant lump of flesh wriggling at the doorway. It looked utterly disgusting.
"That is... [Abundance]?"
As he watched the still-wriggling lump of flesh, Bai Sheng sensed an extremely familiar aura within it. It was the power of the Plague of Abundance that the Xianzhou people spoke of.
In other words, the power of The Abundance, the [Abundance] Aeon.
This mass of flesh had likely proliferated from a small piece of blood and flesh carrying the power of [Abundance].
Bai Sheng had not paid it much attention at first, but this thing had grown far too large, hadn't it?!
Bai Sheng glanced around. The researchers from before had all vanished without a trace.
They had probably all become nutrients for the lump of flesh before him.
Just as Bai Sheng was about to approach, he noticed a change in the flesh. The faces of those experiment personnel had actually grown out from the bloody mass!
And because the lump itself had proliferated so much, those faces had been squeezed together, making their human shapes completely unrecognizable. Only the obvious features—the eyes, noses, and mouths—revealed that they were human faces.
"It hurts so much... Give me back my life... My experiment... I can't accept this..."
Seven or eight mouths spoke at once, their tones shifting along with the writhing flesh. The scene was as bizarre as it could possibly be.
The next second, a thick, long arm of flesh suddenly proliferated from the mass. Hard, sharp bone spikes covered it. It brutally tore through the flesh and extended outward, sending chunks of meat and blood spilling down with it.
Yet the lump of flesh seemed not to care at all as the fleshy arm smashed directly toward Bai Sheng.
"Revenge!... It hurts so much... Re... venge!"
Bai Sheng held Scythe Blade horizontally and blocked the heavy blow, but he was still sent flying a considerable distance, his back crashing against the laboratory wall. The surrounding experimental data had long since been scattered by the shockwaves of battle.
"Can you still handle it, Kid Bai?"
Aatrox's voice came from within the Scythe Blade. Bai Sheng shook his head, then constructed a puppet beside him as he looked at the thing before him. At the same time, he summoned Aatrox's soul and attached it to the puppet.
A basic ability of the Kasantiya people was to construct a crude puppet according to the surrounding conditions to assist themselves, but the puppet Bai Sheng created could hardly be called crude.
"This hastily made puppet can exert roughly thirty percent of your original strength. I'm not in good shape. We'll break out together!"
Having already adjusted to the body, Aatrox nodded. A Greatsword appeared in his hand, with a beating heart embedded in it.
Round two... begin!
