Cheng Shi kept his head down and continued through the cave. As his pace quickened, the space ahead gradually widened. Soon, a brighter glow appeared before him. After he rounded a mass of obstructing crystal pillars, the view opened up before his eyes.
Beyond the cave lay a far vaster world of crystal. Cheng Shi stood at the cave's edge, like a tiny black speck in a hole on the cliff face of an abyss.
He looked down at the uneven crystal sea beneath him, then followed it with his gaze into the distance, where he saw a chasm like a heavenly moat.
On the other side of the fissure, memory crystals covered the world as well. But unlike this side, the glow of memory there was far more brilliant, and the currents of memory were a much deeper blue.
Clearly, the other shore of this memory dump led somewhere different.
