Alad was stunned. He opened his eyes, lifted his head, and looked at Cheng Shi, somewhat puzzled by the question.
"Although I don't know when His name began to spread, I do know that in the nearby towns, there was always a scholar who spoke eloquently while spreading His name.
Xilolin had sent people to investigate him. She had even had me make contact with that scholar, of course, back before I joined the Proxy Hand.
But he was very cunning and never revealed his whereabouts.
At the time, I didn't know what use these people had. She told me that scholars from underground who didn't worship Truth were very likely enemies of Truth. Anyone capable of overthrowing an evil god should be an aid to the Brotherhood of Extreme Desire, so she had always been very interested in Folly's believers.
But later, I found out that these believers of Folly had most likely originally belonged to the Tower of Reason. I couldn't see through their intentions, so I had always felt that these people couldn't be trusted."
Cheng Shi was stunned as well. The eloquent speaker the other man described sounded like Allen Doyle to him, but that wasn't the key issue. The most crucial point was that Xilolin didn't know about Folly. She had even believed Folly was a Wild God. If she didn't know, how could she possibly have sent Alad to make contact with those believers of Folly?
Frowning, he hauled Alad up and dragged him into Xilolin's room. Under Xilolin's intensely hateful gaze, Cheng Shi asked again:
"You really don't know about Folly?"
"I swear, I've never heard of His name. Before those two scholars came looking for me, I didn't even know that the words 'folly' and 'stupidity' could represent a god. Even Wild
