Scott did not understand. Next, the monsters would devour every living thing here. In the end, all of Miskatonic would sink into eternal darkness amid the sounds of frenzied prayers. Every tree and building—even the stones—would begin to writhe, breed, and give birth to all kinds of ethically transgressive abominations.
To Scott, that was what the ending meant.
No matter how hard they struggled or how they fought back, there was no salvation to be found here.
He had actually given up long ago. Like the friends beside him, he simply enjoyed what little life remained, muddled through his final days, and then repeated it all over again.
