What was drawn in the notebook was a spindle-shaped fish. It looked quite plump, with smooth skin and streamlined dorsal fins. Although it was only a simple sketch drawn with a brush, the key details were rendered vividly. Even with just a few strokes, one could make out the fish's appearance.
"I never considered eating it."
Axiang scratched his head, unable to understand what Lu Ban meant.
"I saw this fish in the water a few days ago when it was raining. We had no way to catch it, so I could only record its appearance. It swam incredibly fast, almost as fast as our ship. It was huge and very conspicuous."
He gestured to show the fish's size. It was about as large as a six- or seven-year-old child. A fish that big and that fast was indeed quite rare.
"It must be delicious."
Lu Ban added another comment.
"Think about it. It's so fat, so it must have lots of meat. And since it swims so fast, that means it exercises frequently, so all that meat must have turned into well-trained muscle. Especially the meat along its back. If we could catch one and slice the meat from its spine into pieces, it would definitely be delicious!"
He made Axiang swallow hard, but the scholar immediately realized that he had let himself get carried away and hurriedly added,
"No, that's not right. How could we eat it?"
"Why can't we eat things from the sea? Isn't the purpose of your research to understand these creatures? Whether they can be eaten and whether they taste good must surely be part of the research too. What's wrong with eating one?"
Lu Ban spoke with complete seriousness, leaving Axiang utterly bewildered.
"That actually sounds quite reasonable."
"Why don't we go catch
