Can't I Just Raise Myself?

The patrol work at the Bureau of Governance was essentially a slacking job—clock in, take a stroll, and generally as long as nothing happened in the jurisdiction, it was fine.

The exception was that with Princess Caslati about to arrive in Berman City, the mayor had personally ordered stricter city controls, raising the security requirements by a significant margin.

Shifting his gaze, 'Lin Qi' had already walked out of the church.

There were no more monsters inside the church, so Ryan planned to head outside. The streets of the city district beyond the church were dead silent, with only the occasional creak of the streetlights on either side as the wind blew.

The street scene was the same as reality. Ryan had been to the church before, so he had a decent understanding of the surrounding area.

Following his memory, he guided the character down one side of the street, but soon encountered a patrolling Security Officer.

Security Officer: "It's curfew hours. Please go back."

A Nun generally wouldn't be seen as suspicious, and this Security Officer's attitude was clearly friendly. Otherwise, in Ryan's memory, spotting someone out late at night would at least warrant an invitation back for tea.

'Lin Qi': "What are the curfew hours?"

Security Officer: "From ten at night to six in the morning."

"Same as reality."

Ryan was a Security Officer himself, so he naturally knew the curfew hours. For the half-month or so around Caslati's arrival in Berman City, a curfew would be enforced.

Seeing he couldn't get past, Ryan switched to another road, only to run into another Security Officer. As the latter approached 'Lin Qi', he steered the character back to the church.

Back at the church, the Security Officer didn't follow.

Once the Security Officer turned back, Ryan guided 'Lin Qi' to carefully trail him. After a few minutes, he was about to duck into a side alley when suddenly a scream rang out.

The Security Officer ahead heard the sound and immediately ran toward its source. 'Lin Qi' followed along.

Soon, 'Lin Qi' turned into the alley. Standing at the entrance, she saw the Security Officer from earlier collapsed on the ground, his face twisted in terror.

"M-monsters! Monsters!"

"Werewolf?"

Crimson blood flowed through the alley. Under the moonlight, a burly figure was crouched on the ground 'feeding'. The dead citizen's stomach had been ripped open, entrails mixed with blood and shredded flesh spilling out.

Sensing someone approaching, the figure turned its head. Ryan saw it was a creature with a human body and a wolf's head.

Werewolves weren't a race—there were no demi-humans in Empress Online. Instead, they were a power characteristic of a religious faction, beings corrupted by the use of Outer Gods' power into some bestial form, possibly a wolf, a dog, or something else.

Bang!

The werewolf suddenly lunged with a spring, its sharp claws slamming down and turning the terrified Security Officer's head into a pulp.

"That fierce?"

Ryan's gaze shifted to the information displayed above the werewolf's head.

Great. No info.

No info meant low level.

On screen, 'Lin Qi' drew her dagger and charged at the werewolf without hesitation.

"Time to kill, time to kill!"
