Patrolling for the Bureau of Governance had always been an easy job. Check in, make the rounds—generally, as long as nothing happened in the district under their jurisdiction, there was no problem.
The exception was Princess Caslati's imminent arrival in Berman City. The mayor had personally ordered tighter control over the city, raising the requirements for public security by a considerable margin.
The view shifted, and 'Lin Qi' had already walked out of the Church.
There were no more monsters inside the church. Ryan planned to look around outside. The streets of the district beyond the church were deathly silent, with only the streetlights on either side occasionally creaking in the wind.
The street scene was the same as reality. Ryan had been around the Church before, so he knew the surrounding area fairly well.
Following his memory, he controlled the character toward one side of the street, but soon encountered a patrolling Security Officer.
Security Officer: 'It's curfew. Please go back.'
Nuns generally were not regarded as suspicious individuals. This Security Officer was clearly quite friendly; otherwise, from what Ryan remembered, anyone appearing in the middle of the night would at least be invited back for a cup of tea.
'Lin Qi': 'What are the curfew hours?'
Security Officer: 'From ten at night until six the next morning.'
"Just like reality."
Ryan was a Security Officer himself, so he naturally knew the curfew hours. Curfews would be enforced for the half-month surrounding Caslathdi's arrival in Berman City.
Seeing that he could not get past, Ryan took another route, only to encounter another Security Officer. As the latter walked toward 'Lin Qi,' he controlled the character back into the Church.
Once she returned to the Church, the Security Officer did not follow her any farther.
After the Security Officer headed back, Ryan controlled 'Lin Qi' to follow him carefully. After walking for several minutes, he prepared to turn into a side alley when a scream suddenly rang out.
The Security Officer ahead heard it and immediately ran toward the source. 'Lin Qi' followed as well.
Before long, 'Lin Qi' turned into the alley. Standing at its entrance, she saw the Security Officer sprawled on the ground in the distance, his face filled with terror.
'M-Monster!'
"Werewolf?"
Scarlet blood flowed through the alley. Under the moonlight, a burly figure crouched on the ground, 'feeding.' The dead citizen's stomach had been slit open, and his internal organs spilled out amid blood and chunks of flesh.
Sensing someone approaching, it turned its head. Ryan saw that it was a creature with a human body and a wolf's head.
Werewolves were not a race. There were no demi-human races in Empress Online; rather, they were a manifestation of power from a religious faction. Those corrupted by the power of the Outer Gods took on bestial forms—perhaps wolves, perhaps dogs, or perhaps other creatures.
Bang!
The werewolf suddenly sprang forward in a burst, its sharp claws smashing down and turning the terrified Security Officer's head into pulp.
"So strong?"
Ryan's gaze shifted to the information displayed above the werewolf's head.

Very good. No information.
If it did not say, that meant its level was low.
On the screen, 'Lin Qi' drew the Dagger in her hand and charged at the werewolf without hesitation.
"Let's kill it! Let's kill it!"
