Background / History

The Dark Ancient Tower is a black, ten-layered ancient structure that wanders through the Darkness Zone. Its surface bears scratches and burn marks, and its true body is described as tens of thousands of feet tall, with each floor containing a separate world. No one knows when it was created, and Legendary Wizards and multiversal dominators have unsuccessfully tried to subdue it. 268 269

It is also called the Chaos Ancient Tower, a name that prompted Levi to suspect a connection to the Chaos Ancient Serpent. This remains his speculation rather than a confirmed origin. 268 269

The tower opens once every ten thousand years. Before an opening, it randomly casts small black tower-shaped keys into multiple planes, including Nora; these keys cannot be placed in ordinary storage spaces and attract attention by emitting light. 268 572

During its previous opening, the tower descended visibly over the Ancient Saint Plane and admitted participants into its first layer, the Lost Swamp. 314 315 Its ten floors have served as both dangerous exploration zones and habitats for native civilizations, alien races, Black Beasts, and powerful local rulers. 268 376

Ten-layered worlds

• The tower has ten floors, each functioning as a distinct world; it is therefore known as the Ten Realms Ancient Tower. 268

Resource collection

The Dark Ancient Tower continually absorbs resources from external worlds, planes, and the Darkness Zone. Levi concluded that its periodic opening allows it to provide accumulated resources to the Wizard World while recovering between cycles. 332
