By this point, Sunan had already realized that the strange cat before him was most likely the Magical Creature the Starfire Cult had been hunting all along.
Still, the kitten's sudden ability to speak caught him off guard.
Among Magical Creatures, there was no shortage of individuals whose intelligence rivaled that of humans, or even surpassed them.
But that did not mean these Magical Creatures could communicate normally with humans.
Take the Hidden Dragon, for example. As its Life Level rose, its intelligence would eventually become nearly equal to a human's, perhaps even greater.
Yet it still would not speak human language, knowing only Lizard Language. Perhaps after awakening its Giant Dragon Bloodline, it would naturally gain mastery of Dragon Language as well.
But unless someone patiently taught it human speech, it was basically impossible for a Hidden Dragon to speak human words.
So, seeing a cat speak still came as a considerable shock to Sunan.
Teaching a cat to master human language was no easy task.
"Meow, why aren't you answering me?"
Seeing Sunan stare at her in silence, the kitten asked again in a serious tone.
Her voice was as young as that of a seven- or eight-year-old girl, pleasant and clear as a mountain spring.
Coming back to himself, Sunan said calmly, "Sorry. It's my first time seeing a cat as beautiful as you, so I got a little lost in thought."
"Meow, really? Thank you for the compliment."
The kitten happily narrowed her eyes, her expression remarkably vivid.
"My name is Sunan. What's yours?"
"My name is Amy."
"How did Amy get into the room?"
"I just came in like this."
Amy lightly leaped forward and vanished into thin air. When she reappeared, she was already on the other side of the room, several meters away.
"Space Travel!"
Sunan's eyes widened in astonishment.
In that instant, he had actually sensed Spatial Fluctuation.
This strange little cat had mastered the rare ability of Space Travel!
Sunan finally understood why the Starfire Cult had never been able to catch her.
Although the Hidden Dragon's Reality Shift ability could also traverse through empty space, the distance it could travel ultimately depended on its own movement speed.
Space Travel, however, allowed instantaneous movement within a certain range, ignoring both distance and obstacles.
That range could span several hundred meters at the least, or several kilometers at the most.
To knights, an ability like this was practically an unsolvable bug.
Even Sunan had been equally helpless against abilities like Space Travel before learning the Fourth Circle Spell, Dimensional Anchor.
A cat that could travel through space and speak human language—just what was this little fellow's origin?
Sunan grew increasingly curious.
Amy seemed not to understand how to refuse. She answered every one of his questions, showing no inclination to avoid even questions concerning her own abilities. There was a kind of innocent beauty to her intelligence.
Sunan simply crouched down, putting on the gentlest expression he could, and continued, "Amy, why did you come here?"
Amy leaped and landed in front of Sunan again.
"Meow, I sensed Energy Particle fluctuations here, so I came to take a look."
As she spoke, Amy carefully examined Sunan, her eyes widening slightly.
"You have very dense Energy Particles around you. You're a Wizard Apprentice, meow!"
Sunan raised a brow. "You know about Wizard Apprentices?"
"Of course. My master told me. My master is a very powerful wizard."
The kitten held her head high, her voice brimming with pride.
"Then what is your master's name?"
Though conversing with a cat felt incredibly strange, Sunan patiently continued questioning her.
"My master's name is Master, of course." Amy tilted her head in confusion.
"Then where is your master?"
"Master..."
Amy's mood suddenly sank.
"Master disappeared."
"I took a nap, and when I woke up, Master was gone. Then a group of bad guys broke in and searched everywhere for things. They even wanted to catch me. Luckily, I was clever and escaped in time."
"I see. You really are pitiful."
Sunan reached out and stroked Amy's back. As he felt the softness of her smooth fur, he quietly pondered.
Judging from Amy's words, the place where she had lived was very likely a wizard's residence.
For some unknown reason, that wizard had vanished. Then the Starfire Cult had found the place and taken everything inside.
Thinking of this, Sunan could not help feeling regretful.
Those things had been wasted on the Starfire Cult. They could not even use them. If they had all gone to him, he surely would have gained quite a lot.
"Then why did those bad guys keep chasing you afterward?"
Perhaps she had not been petted in a long time, Amy squinted her eyes in enjoyment. Without realizing at all why Sunan knew she had been hunted by the bad guys, she answered without hesitation:
"I was angry that they stole Master's things, so I followed them back to where they lived. I wanted to take all of Master's things back, but I was too nervous and took the wrong thing. Then those bad guys kept chasing me to get it back."
"What did you take?" Sunan asked instinctively.
Amy stretched out a fluffy paw and patted the floor. In the next instant, an egg-sized bead appeared out of thin air.
Sunan keenly sensed that the moment the bead appeared, the golden bell around Amy's neck emitted an extremely faint fluctuation of Energy Particles.
Clearly, it was no ordinary bell, but a spatial Magical Item.
Sunan could not help sighing.
He was a Second Class Wizard Apprentice and still did not own a spatial Magical Item. Compared to this cat, he was doing worse than a cat.
And the more that was the case, the more curious Sunan became about Amy's master.
Anyone capable of raising a Magical Creature like Amy could not have been weak. Perhaps they had even been a powerful official wizard.
But how had that person managed to advance to become a wizard on the present-day Starlight Continent?
As he thought, Sunan looked toward the bead.
Only upon closer inspection did he realize that it was not a bead at all, but a pale yellow piece of amber, perfectly round and crystal-clear, with a drop of blood sealed inside?
"Can I take a look?" Sunan asked Amy, pointing at the amber.
Amy nodded readily. "No problem, but be careful, meow. This thing is a little strange."
Sunan nodded. He wrapped a layer of Energy Particles around his palm before carefully picking up the amber.
After pausing to make sure nothing unusual happened, Sunan swiftly placed the amber into the magic cube under the cover of his body, then checked its information.
The moment he saw it, surprise appeared on his face.
God Blood Amber God blood content: 0.05 milliliters Carrying it increases one's affinity for Energy Particles, but it possesses a certain degree of Mental Pollution. Prolonged close contact will alter one's thoughts and cognition, causing an intense fanatical faith in the source of the god blood.
