Divine blood!
Sunan had never expected the blood inside the amber to be something like this.
A thousand years ago, Starlight Continent had been wizard territory. No god would have been foolish enough to enter Starlight Continent and seek death.
By all rights, divine blood should not have existed.
Could it be that, during the thousand years since the wizards left, some god from another world had entered Starlight Continent to spread their faith?
Sunan could not help thinking of the Star God worshipped by the Starfire Cult.
He had assumed the Star God was merely a fabrication by the Starfire Cult's upper ranks to fool the lower-ranking believers. But now, it seemed that was not the case.
But if the Star God truly existed, why did none of the Starfire Cult's followers know even a single Divine Art? Their combat methods were entirely those of native knights.
Or perhaps this divine blood was simply material collected by some wizard a thousand years ago and left behind until now?
After frowning in thought for a while without finding an answer, Sunan shook his head and temporarily put the matter aside, returning his attention to the God Blood Amber in his hand.
After a moment of hesitation, he dispersed the Energy Particles from his palm and let his skin touch the God Blood Amber.
In an instant, his mind went hazy, and indistinct murmurs seemed to drift into his ears.
A grand and magnificent hall seemed to appear before his eyes. A towering figure whose face could not be seen sat high upon a divine throne, while countless fanatical believers knelt below.
Countless prayers and hymns echoed through his mind, extolling the god's greatness and omnipotence.
Sunan frowned tightly and used Energy Particles to isolate the God Blood Amber. Only then did the voices in his ears and the visions in his mind vanish.
"So this is what they call Mental Pollution."
Sunan's expression turned grave.
Even his Spirit Power could not resist Mental Pollution. For anyone else, even a knight, prolonged exposure to such Mental Pollution would make it difficult not to become a fanatic.
"Still, though Mental Pollution is terrifying, this thing has its benefits."
At the instant he had touched the God Blood Amber, Sunan had clearly felt his body's attraction to the free-floating Energy Particles in the air increase tremendously.
For knights, this allowed their bodies to remain constantly bathed in Energy Particles, subtly strengthening their constitutions at every moment.
The Starfire Cult had presumably used the God Blood Amber's properties of inducing Mental Pollution and strengthening the body to cultivate a large number of fanatically devout knights in a short time, rapidly expanding their power.
The God Blood Amber was equally beneficial to Wizard Apprentices.
The essence of meditation was absorbing Energy Particles to strengthen Spirit Power.
Since the God Blood Amber could enhance the absorption of Energy Particles, it could naturally improve meditation efficiency indirectly as well.
"The question is, how do I eliminate the Mental Pollution?"
Sunan had no desire to become a fanatic of that so-called Star God.
"The Synthesis Cube can improve the effects of synthesized items while weakening their side effects. If I had enough God Blood Amber, could I use synthesis to weaken the side effect of Mental Pollution?"
Sunan's eyes lit up.
When he had used Blackscale Lizardmen blood to synthesize Dragon Lizard Blood and Subdragon Blood, he had successfully reduced the blood's rejection response.
Synthesizing God Blood Amber should produce a similar result.
At that thought, Sunan immediately grew excited and looked expectantly at Amy.
"Amy, do you have any more of this?"
"No, meow. I only took one." Amy shook her head.
Sunan was somewhat disappointed, but he still asked unwillingly, "The Starfire Cult—the place where those bad guys live—do they have a lot of this stuff?"
"A lot, meow."
Amy raised a paw and lightly patted the floor, counting a number with every pat.
"One, two, three, four, twenty-two, twenty-four, twenty-five. There are twenty-five of them."
Your counting skills really need some work.
Still, twenty-four pieces of God Blood Amber was no small amount.
Come to think of it, since the Starfire Cult had been able to use God Blood Amber to grow so quickly, they must have possessed quite a lot of it.
Sunan's spirits lifted.
If he could get his hands on enough God Blood Amber, he might be able to solve the problem of improving meditation efficiency!
"Amy, can you sell this to me?" Sunan shook the God Blood Amber in his hand.
"What do you want that for?" Amy tilted her head in confusion. "Meow, I can give it to you if you want, but you have to do me a favor."
"Go ahead."
"Amy has been chased around by those bad guys nonstop. I can't even sleep properly. Can you help me drive them away?"
Sunan smiled faintly and agreed without hesitation.
"No problem."
He had intended to deal with the Starfire Cult anyway. Doing this favor was merely a convenient side matter.
He casually tore off a piece of tablecloth, wrapped up the God Blood Amber, and slipped it into his pocket. Then Sunan turned to look at the vacant-eyed Honi.
Those affected by Charm Human could clearly remember everything that happened around them. This witness could not be allowed to live.
Just as Sunan was about to deal with him, his expression shifted. Without hesitation, he activated the Earth Rune Gem in his hand.
A pale yellow glow with a heavy, solid texture instantly enveloped his entire body.
The next moment, the door exploded inward with a thunderous bang.
Amid the flying rubble, two crescent-shaped sword energies tore through the air like arrows, slashing toward Sunan and Amy respectively.
Sunan raised a hand to block. The sword energy struck his palm with a bang, stalled for an instant, then suddenly burst apart. The violent shockwave crashed into the yellow glow around him, sending ripples across it but failing to break through.
On the other side, Amy had already used Space Travel to vanish somewhere the instant the sword energy came at her.
Screech!
An explosive crack split the air!
Two more sword energies came flying. This time, their targets were Sunan and the unconscious Noblewoman on the bed.
The latter was shredded into a sky full of blood mist without any chance to resist.
This time, Sunan was prepared. With a flicker of his figure, he easily dodged the sword energy and narrowed his eyes at the outside.
"Both attacks were so precise. Can they sense the locations of the people in the room?"
His eyes flickered. Sunan casually snapped Honi's neck, then darted out of the room, crossed the courtyard, and reached the street outside.
More than twenty people wearing cloaks over armor had already surrounded the house.
At their head stood two tall, burly men, their bodies glimmering faintly beneath the moonlight.
Grand Knights!
"Meow, it's you bad guys again!"
Amy had appeared atop a roof more than ten meters away at some point. She glared furiously at the Starfire Cult members.
Sunan immediately understood. These people were likely the Starfire Cult followers who had been pursuing Amy all this time.
The two Grand Knights leading them were most likely the Troy Priest and Ryan Priest Honi had mentioned.
Troy and Ryan ignored Amy, their wary gazes fixed on Sunan instead.
"Who are you?"
Sunan's face was concealed beneath a layer of yellow glow, making his features impossible to discern.
Yet the strength he had displayed in casually blocking two successive sword energy attacks made Troy and Ryan wary.
"The divine blood is on him!"
At that moment, Ryan took out a statue and glanced at it. His expression abruptly changed, and his sharp gaze shot toward Sunan like a sword.
Troy's face likewise turned cold. Pointing his sword at Sunan, he barked, "Hand it over!"
Sunan did not waste words. He raised his hand and fired a bolt of lightning.
Troy and Ryan hurriedly dodged aside, but the Starfire Cult followers behind them lacked their reaction speed and agility. They were blasted into charcoal on the spot.
"Wizard!"
Seeing their subordinates blackened and scorched, both Troy and Ryan's expressions changed. When they looked at Sunan again, their eyes were filled with the vigilance of facing a formidable enemy.
The two immediately gave the order at the same time.
"Kill him!"
