Because of Sunan's intrusion, the war ended in a way no one had expected.
In this battle, the enemy suffered more than 1,300 soldiers killed, with another six to seven hundred taken prisoner.
Even more had fled in rout and vanished without a trace.
Blackstone City's casualties were relatively light, with fewer than two hundred soldiers killed.
More than twenty Blackrock Panthers had been destroyed, however.
When the losses were counted afterward, Brad's cheeks twitched in distress.
Most people, however, were thrilled.
After all, crushing the rebels at such a cost was well worth it.
With a victory under their belts, all of Blackstone City was filled with a jubilant atmosphere.
That evening, Kei held a celebration banquet in the inner keep's banquet hall.
The knights gathered together, drinking and making merry.
Some injured knights even competed in drinking while still wrapped in bandages.
After sharing a round of drinks with the Generals in the front hall, Kei came to the Council Hall at the back and found Sunan resting there—only to discover him petting a cat.
"When did you start keeping a cat?"
Kei looked in surprise at the white cat lying across Sunan's lap.
"This is Amy, my friend." Sunan smiled faintly before introducing Kei to Amy. "This is my brother, Kei."
Seeing Sunan solemnly introduce him to a cat, Kei found it rather amusing. But in the next instant, his eyes widened in astonishment.
"Meow, hello there."
The cat actually raised a paw and greeted him!
A talking cat?
Kei's mouth fell slightly open.
Even though he had already seen many things beyond his understanding through Sunan, this still left his worldview badly shaken.
This world was even more bizarre and fantastical than he had imagined.
". . . Hello."
Kei greeted Amy with an odd expression.
