Chapter 217: Breakthrough Failure of a First-Class Wizard Apprentice
The walls on both sides of the gallery were hung with exquisite red carpets, and magical paintings created by wizards of the Illusion School were displayed upon them.
The figures in these magical paintings were sometimes people, sometimes landscapes, and some of them were even moving.
For example, in a painting of an elegant and dignified wizarding lady, the stern female wizard's gaze shifted as Locke changed his position.
Those eyes remained perpetually furrowed, as if she were troubled by something.
When Locke tried to step back and increase the distance between himself and the painting, the wizarding lady's pupils actually widened as well, as if she had been staring intently at Locke all along.
"I've heard that the magical paintings created by Speed Painters have many unique functions. I hadn't had much contact with them before, but now that I've seen one for myself, I know the rumors were true," Locke murmured.
Speed Painters were a wizard profession belonging to a minor magical branch of the Illusion School.
It was said that the magical paintings created by powerful Speed Painters even imprisoned true souls within them, and could allow the figures in the paintings to attack enemies.
However, that required a very high level of mastery in the spells of the Illusion School—at least the level of a Formal Wizard.
The owner of this gallery clearly had not reached that level yet.
"Have we had a guest? Sorry, sorry. Please wait a moment. I'm putting the finishing touches on a commissioned magical painting. All that's left is to lightly sweep the canvas with a fan brush dipped in linseed oil, allowing the scenery to blend into the ambient light."
A young man's voice came from the depths of the gallery.
