Locke's expression turned strange, because the location in that memory was the Forbidden Forest, Lilith's Cottage's highest-level Wizard Secret Realm.

"Wizard Foucault probably still wasn't willing to accept it. Their research had clearly been very close to success, yet in the end, it was suppressed by the White Wizard Association."

"So he did everything he could to preserve his research results and pass them on to future generations."

"Wait, [the issue of a closer connection between magical plants and wizards]... Isn't Mana Grafting enough of a connection? What about the Distributed Psionic Network I established with magical plants?"

Locke's gaze grew alert. "I remember that Hive Mind Potion only entered mass production two hundred years ago. So Wizard Foucault and Wizard Cliff Levis truly had no way of accessing that potion back then."

"So the foundational conditions at the time limited the extent of their research. If they had been able to access Hive Mind Potion back then, perhaps things would have turned out differently."

"Still, they had already crossed the line by using their colleagues' souls for experiments. No matter what results they produced, their ending probably wouldn't have been good."

"If they wanted to conduct such experiments, why not capture Black Wizards instead? Over at the White Wizard Association, those Black Wizards weren't even considered human."

Through the Memory Fragment, Locke obtained a reading list of prerequisite materials for learning that First-Ring Permanent Defense Field spell.

All of those materials could be found in Lilith's Cottage's public library.

In other words, once Locke returned, he could borrow books from the library and begin studying.

Locke had yet to decide whether to try this rather unreliable-looking spell when he suddenly heard the bell tower ring again.

Locke said in surprise, "Hm? Are there more changes to come?"
