With a wave of Great Wizard Sura's hand, one of the captive Demonkin suddenly let out a pained howl.
The Demonkin lasted less than thirty seconds before its body rapidly changed from flesh into the shape of a stone man, after which its body began to crack.
Then the Demonkin's body shattered, transforming into chunks of stone that fell to the ground and rolled away. A twisted surge of earth energy erupted from its dead body, ignoring the obstruction of the numerous magic arrays. It rapidly passed through the magic-alloy metal floor of the laboratory, entered the earth veins, and headed in some unknown direction.
When the other nine Demonkin saw their companion's tragic death, they immediately let out furious roars. Their intelligence was only comparable to that of advanced mammals, and they mourned their companion's death, but they could not break free of the Magic Lock chains binding their bodies. The chains were completely fused with their bodily tissues.
Those Magic Lock chains were a masterpiece created by Protection School wizards in collaboration with Alchemists. They were First-Ring sealing magic known as Sealing Chains, capable of binding to a person's body and merging with its tissues.
They could not be forcibly broken free of.
That was because breaking free would also mean destroying one's own body. They were a common Alchemical item used to restrain First-Ring creatures, but they were extremely expensive, and ordinary places could not purchase sealing items of this level.
Great Wizard Sura said, "I specifically captured these Demonkin to use in experiments. The first purpose is to locate where the demonic energy is gathering, and the second is to find a way to prevent the demonic energy from escaping into the earth veins and heading to an unknown destination."
