The surrounding apprentices exchanged glances, softened their footsteps, and carefully headed in the direction Finn had pointed.
Only Finn, having suffered at Arro's hands before, always felt that something was off. But since he had just been rebuked, he did not dare defy Willough. He could only deliberately slow down, hoping to observe a little longer.
Yet the ground around them was vaguely pitch-black, while countless streams of light gathered from drifting "fluorescence" above their heads. The streams kept flowing and the light swayed constantly. How could Finn spot any problem?
When that kid had subdued him, how nimble had his movements been?
Even if he was injured now, how could he possibly let bloodstains expose his trail?
Finn suddenly grasped the crux of the problem. His expression shifted, and he was just about to shout.
Whoosh!
Arro's figure suddenly darted out, staggering as he fled madly outward.
"Attack!"
"Kill him!"
"Don't let him get away!"
"Where do you think you're running?!"
"You're courting death!"
The people who had been quietly closing in saw Arro suddenly rush out and thought they had been exposed. Panicked and with no time to think, they immediately unleashed all sorts of attacks.
Small Fireball Spell!
Ice Thorn!
Yet Arro's staggering figure somehow bizarrely dodged every one of those attacks.
Twang!
A crossbow bolt shot forth.
Bang!
Thick mist rose again.
"Ah—!"
A scream rang out from within the thick mist. Arro clutched the arrow lodged in him and staggered out of the fog. His speed had clearly slowed considerably as he scrambled and crawled behind a massive tree nearby.
Drip!
Drip!
The sound of blood falling could vaguely be heard in the silent forest.
Willough gave a slight wave of his hand, and the other apprentices immediately spread out, surrounding the giant tree.
