"Master, don't listen to that dead monkey's nonsense. What kind of demon would invite us to dinner?"
"Think about it. Of all the demons we've encountered, which one didn't attack us without a word?"
"If you ask me, she was clearly a kind female benefactor, yet that monkey beat her to death with one blow. He's saying all this now just to avoid punishment because he's afraid you'll recite the Tightening-Headband Incantation."
"Think about it. That female benefactor is already dead at the monkey's hands, so naturally he can say whatever he wants now. If you ask me, that monkey had no good intentions from the start!"
Pigsy snorted twice and angrily voiced those words.
It was impossible to tell whether he was angry over the meal they had missed or over the young woman who had been beaten to death.
Tang Sanzang was easily swayed and, being only a mortal of flesh and blood, lacked discernment. He believed whatever others told him.
He had originally believed three parts of Sun Wukong's words, but after hearing Pigsy, he found his words reasonable as well.
For a moment, he did not know whom to believe.
Sun Wukong's words seemed reasonable, and Pigsy's words seemed reasonable too.
His heart, which had already been leaning toward Sun Wukong, tilted back once more.
Sun Wukong raised the Golden Cudgel as if to strike. "Idiot, stop talking nonsense. Old Sun isn't that kind of person. That woman was clearly a demon!"
"Who knows whether that's true?" Pigsy muttered, folding his arms and saying no more.
"Enough, Wu Kong, Wu Neng! Stop arguing. Let's get moving and try to leave this place before nightfall."
Tang Sanzang displayed his authority as their master. Pigsy and Sun Wukong said nothing further and followed Tang Sanzang onward.
