"Who are you?" Sun Wukong glanced sideways at Li Jing.
"I am the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, Li Jing," Li Jing said in a deep voice, a hint of pride in his tone.
Within the Heavenly Court, he, Li Jing, commanded many Heavenly Soldiers, which was enough to make him proud.
"The Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, Li Jing." Sun Wukong tilted his head and thought for a moment, "Don't recognize you. When I speak with that old man, the Jade Emperor, what right do you have, a mere soldier, to speak?"
Of course, Sun Wukong wasn't being entirely truthful.
Li Jing, in Journey to the West, Sun Wukong was aware of him.
However, in the original history, Li Jing was no match for him, and now that he was changing his own destiny, it was even more so.
Therefore, Sun Wukong wouldn't show Li Jing any respect.
If it were that Nezha, Li Jing's child, then he might be slightly worth acknowledging.
"You..." Li Jing's expression turned angry upon hearing this, and his aura surged.
"Enough, Li Jing. Do you know where you are?" the Jade Emperor said calmly from his high seat.
The exchange between Sun Wukong and Li Jing didn't cause him even the slightest ripple.
"Your Majesty, this humble subject understands," Li Jing quickly replied. "It was Li Jing's recklessness. I beg Your Majesty's punishment."
"Return to your position," the Jade Emperor waved his hand.
"Yes, Your Majesty." Li Jing took a deep breath and retreated to his spot.
"Sun Wukong, are you willing to serve as an official in the Heavenly Court?" the Jade Emperor slowly asked.
Regarding Sun Wukong, the current Jade Emperor didn't want to waste too many words.
"I am willing to serve as an official in the Heavenly Court. According to Taibai Jinxing, my official position should be quite high," Sun Wukong said with a smile.
"That's right," the Jade Emperor said with a smile. "You will come to the Heavenly Court to be the Bimawen. Guards, take Sun Wukong down and lead him to where the Bimawen resides."
"Yes, Your Majesty." A nearby Immortal and God respectfully nodded.
"Court dismissed."
As the Immortals and Gods left one by one, only Taibai Jinxing and the Jade Emperor remained.
"Taibai Jinxing, you have something to tell me," the Jade Emperor asked.
"Yes, Your Majesty. This time, when I was at Flower-Fruit Mountain, I encountered someone I shouldn't have been able to see," Taibai Jinxing took a deep breath.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, emanating demonic energy, still caused Taibai Jinxing some shock.
"Who?" the Jade Emperor asked in a deep voice.
"Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva."
"It's him." The Jade Emperor's gaze shifted.
As a Bodhisattva of Buddhism, he was almost second only to Buddha Tathagata and the others.
As for other Buddhas within Buddhism besides Tathagata, most could not compare to Ksitigarbha, or even Guanyin.
"Moreover, I saw that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was emitting astonishing demonic energy at that time, but Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is a Bodhisattva," Taibai Jinxing couldn't help but say.
A Bodhisattva emitting demonic energy.
This completely overturned Taibai Jinxing's worldview.
"Your Majesty, do we need to inform Buddhism about this matter?"
"Inform Buddhism," the Jade Emperor sneered. "What does Buddhism's affairs have to do with us? Taibai Jinxing, you may withdraw. Remember, do not tell Buddhism about this matter."
"Yes, Your Majesty. This humble subject takes his leave." Taibai Jinxing bowed respectfully and left the Hall of Lingxiao.
"Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva... interesting, very interesting."
Chapter Fourteen: Severing Ties with Buddhism
Deep within the Heavenly Court.
Haotian also learned about Ksitigarbha's descent into demonic ways, which surprised him.
"Ksitigarbha has fallen into demonic ways," Haotian muttered to himself. "Meaning, that astonishing demonic energy emanating just now was Ksitigarbha."
Ksitigarbha's status within Buddhism, while not comparable to Guanyin, was known to many Great Powers.
In any case, he was a Quasi-Saint powerhouse.
It's just that Ksitigarbha's strength still had a significant gap compared to truly top-tier experts like Haotian, Zhen Yuanzi, Tathagata, and other peak powerhouses.
Now, Haotian was very interested in Ksitigarbha.
"Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, why did he fall into demonic ways?" Haotian's eyes shone with light.
For a Bodhisattva, falling into demonic ways was truly too difficult.
And his descent into demonic ways was not ordinary; he had directly entered the demonic path.
The true demonic path, in history, only Demon Ancestor Luohu had entered. Now there was another, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
"Buddhism, let's see how you handle this," Haotian chuckled.
This time, the Calamity of Buddhism, Haotian had a feeling it would become very interesting.
Spirit Mountain, not far from the Great Thunderclap Monastery.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, clad in a kasaya, slowly approached.
Just as Ksitigarbha had said before, it was time to settle the score between him and Buddhism.
And there was something else.
There were many things in the General Store. As Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, he was just a pauper, but the Great Thunderclap Monastery had many good things.
It could be said that both Sun Wukong and Ksitigarbha, who had entered the General Store and gained rewards, had become a little greedy.
Sun Wukong was heading to the Heavenly Court to collect treasures.
Ksitigarbha was planning to seize the treasures of the Great Thunderclap Monastery.
After all, he had brought a lot of help to Buddhism over the years.
Under his vow, "If Hell is not empty, I will not become Buddha," he had contributed much of Buddhism's fortune.
"Spirit Mountain, Great Thunderclap Monastery, we've arrived." Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva looked at the Spirit Mountain emitting a seven-colored glow before him, and the Great Thunderclap Monastery, a massive structure faintly visible within the mountain.
It had been a long time since he had last visited, ever since he began guarding the Underworld.
"Tathagata, come out." Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva stood in the void and called out.
His voice was deafening.
"Rumble..."
Golden figures projected themselves from Spirit Mountain, each radiating immense Buddhist light.
There were Arhats, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas...
"That is..." Arhat Dragon Subduing's pupils contracted as he looked at the figure in the distance.
As the foremost of the Eighteen Arhats, he recognized this person – Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
But Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was supposed to be presiding over the Underworld, wasn't he?
Why would he suddenly appear on Spirit Mountain, and even address the Buddha by name?
However, facing Ksitigarbha, it wasn't his place as an Arhat to question. Bodhisattvas were also emerging from Spirit Mountain.
Guanyin Bodhisattva, a Bodhisattva no less powerful than Ksitigarbha.
In the mortal world, Guanyin Bodhisattva had the most believers by far.
"Ksitigarbha." Guanyin Bodhisattva appeared, stepping on a lotus flower. "You are not presiding over the Underworld, so why have you come to Spirit Mountain? And why do you address the Buddha by name?"
"Guanyin." Ksitigarbha chuckled. "What, you don't welcome me to Spirit Mountain?"
"Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, you jest." Guanyin shook her head. "Spirit Mountain is always open to you. But there are still many evil beings in the Underworld. Ksitigarbha, Guanyin greatly admires your great vow."
"Hmph." Ksitigarbha said calmly. "Guanyin, I have a question for you."
"Please, speak."
"The dignified Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, I've heard your incense offerings in the mortal world are extremely prosperous. What have you done for humanity then?" Ksitigarbha asked.
"Ksitigarbha, for humans, as immortals, occasional alms are sufficient. What else do we need to do?" Guanyin shook her head.
It could be said that whether it was the immortals of the Heavenly Court or the Bodhisattvas and Arhats of Buddhism, many couldn't shake off their condescending attitude.
Because of this.
Humans, as the protagonists of this world, were very weak.
In the past, the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin races, as well as the Wu and Yao tribes, were the protagonists of heaven and earth and were extremely powerful.
This was completely incomparable to humans today.
The Immortals and Gods only wanted to obtain the fortune of humans as protagonists.
