"Clap, clap..."
Sun Wukong clapped his hands and nodded with satisfaction. "Not bad, a few more treasures. Now I'll have a good look around the Underworld."
And so, scenes of surprise attacks occurred throughout the Underworld from time to time.
Then, the people who were attacked found that everything on them had disappeared.
"What... I..." Black and White Impermanence touched their heads, feeling dizzy.
The two looked at each other and burst into laughter.
"White Impermanence, you're hilarious. You're not wearing anything."
"You can talk, you're the same."
"What..."
"Wait, why did we end up like this? We were trying to capture Sun Wukong earlier. Where is Sun Wukong?"
"He's gone! Quickly, quickly report to Lord King Yama."
Black and White Impermanence hurried towards King Yama's Hall.
King Yama's Hall.
"What? Sun Wukong is gone?" King Yama's eyes widened. "Find him! You must find him."
For King Yama, capturing Sun Wukong was a request from Buddhism.
If one were to say it, the Underworld's power could not compare to Buddhism.
After all, Buddhism had two Saints, while the Underworld, arguably, had only one.
Not to mention that the Underworld was guarded by the great figure Ksitigarbha.
This put the Underworld in a rather awkward position.
Therefore, King Yama and the others would not refuse Buddhism's request, as it was not a major issue.
But now that Sun Wukong was gone, it seemed this matter could not be completed.
This was why King Yama was somewhat anxious.
"Yes..."
At this moment, the entire Underworld was mobilized.
Later, King Yama discovered scenes that made him want to vomit blood. Many ghost messengers had been stripped bare.
Sun Wukong was more like a bandit than a bandit.
Was this still the Sun Wukong who wreaked havoc in the Dragon Palace?
This made King Yama feel like spitting blood.
At the same time, deep within the Underworld, there was a palace.
This palace was where Great Emperor Beiyin Fengdu resided.
Great Emperor Beiyin Fengdu's status was second only to Houtu, who had embodied reincarnation.
In the Underworld, he was second to none.
The other Ghost Emperors, and even the Kings of Yama, were all beneath Fengdu the Great Emperor.
"Fengdu the Great Emperor, regarding Sun Wukong's current rampage in the Underworld, should we intervene?" Eastern Ghost Emperor Cai Yulei asked respectfully to a man wearing a crown above him.
"Eastern Ghost Emperor, Sun Wukong's matter is a request from Buddhism. We have already intervened this time. Are we still going to clean up their mess for them?" Fengdu the Great Emperor's eyes flashed with a cold light. "You must know that Buddhism nowadays is somewhat arrogant."
"I understand," Eastern Ghost Emperor Cai Yulei nodded.
"Besides, a mere Grand Unity Golden Immortal can't do much. Perhaps..." Great Emperor Beiyin Fengdu's gaze shifted in a certain direction, the direction Sun Wukong was heading.
Coincidentally, that place also had a connection to Buddhism.
It was the place of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, one of the powerful Bodhisattvas in Buddhism.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva had made a vow in Buddhism: "I will not become a Buddha until Hell is empty."
But as long as sentient beings existed, how could Hell ever be empty?
Because of this, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva would likely never become a Buddha.
Now that Sun Wukong was heading there, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva should do something.
He, as the de facto ruler of Hell, did not need to act himself.
"This is..." Sun Wukong looked at the hall before him, which seemed to be radiating Buddhist light. He scratched his head. "Why is there a Buddhist hall in the Underworld?"
"Never mind, let's go in and see. Maybe there are good things inside." Sun Wukong's eyes gleamed with cunning as he transformed into a beam of light and shot forward.
During this time, he, Sun Wukong, had reaped quite a harvest in the Underworld.
Chapter Six: Saints Intervene in the Calamity
Ksitigarbha Hall.
Sun Wukong looked utterly bewildered.
Everything before him was truly beyond his expectations.
It wasn't that the Buddhist hall contained many things. Rather, upon entering the palace, Sun Wukong discovered it was completely empty, with nothing inside at all.
"What is this place? Is no one living here?" Sun Wukong asked helplessly.
That seemed to be the only plausible explanation.
"However..." Sun Wukong looked up at the Buddhist hall and muttered to himself, "Perhaps I can just dismantle this palace. It feels like there are many treasures used to build this Buddhist hall."
With that thought, Sun Wukong gripped his Ruyi Jingu Bang. "Since no one lives here anymore, it might as well offer me a little help."
"Amitabha..."
At this moment, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva could no longer hold back and slowly emerged.
He had been in the main hall for a long time, but due to the gap in power between him and Sun Wukong, he hadn't noticed him immediately.
Originally, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva wanted to see what Sun Wukong would do. However, what he didn't expect was that the other party intended to dismantle his Buddhist hall.
In such a situation, Ksitigarbha couldn't just stand by and watch; he had to come out.
"Someone's here." Sun Wukong turned to face Ksitigarbha. "Who are you, and why are you here?"
"Benefactor, I am Ksitigarbha. This is my Buddhist hall. Seeing that you intended to dismantle it, I had no choice but to come out," Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva said, shaking his head.
"Oh, is that so?" Sun Wukong showed no embarrassment. "From what I understand, Bodhisattvas like you should have many treasures. Why is there nothing here?"
From Journey to the West (Book), Sun Wukong had learned that the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of Buddhism were hypocritical.
Not to mention, this had an intricate connection to him personally.
Sun Wukong didn't have any good feelings towards those in Buddhism.
After all, Tathagata had suppressed him for five hundred years.
Of course, none of that had happened yet.
"Treasures?" Ksitigarbha shook his head. "Those in Buddhism focus on delivering all sentient beings. Why bother with external possessions?"
"Forget it. I don't have any good feelings towards your Buddhism. All of you in Buddhism are hypocritical and cunning," Sun Wukong said slowly.
"Benefactor, those in Buddhism speak of compassion. How could they be cunning?" Ksitigarbha was taken aback.
"Hmph, I know from the Shopkeeper that, in a way, your Buddhism is more demonic than demons," Sun Wukong said disdainfully. "Oh, right... I have another question."
"Please, speak," Ksitigarbha's eyes held a glint of light.
"Do you know about the Journey to the West?" Sun Wukong asked gravely.
"Journey to the West..." At this moment, Ksitigarbha's eyes could no longer hide his genuine shock.
How could Sun Wukong know about the Journey to the West?
As for Ksitigarbha, he didn't pay attention to the Journey to the West. He had always been in Hell, converting evil spirits.
But it was the key to the flourishing of Buddhism, and he, Ksitigarbha, knew a little about it.
The arrangements for the Journey to the West had only just begun.
How could the Sun Wukong before him know about it?
Could it be...
Ksitigarbha thought of the Shopkeeper Sun Wukong mentioned earlier. Was it him?
"Hahaha..." Sun Wukong also noticed Ksitigarbha's shock and burst into laughter.
Although Journey to the West (Book) was different from his own experience, some parts might be similar.
Just like what the Shopkeeper said, his fate might be the same as described in the book.
"I want the heavens to no longer cover my eyes, I want the earth to no longer bury my heart, I want all sentient beings to understand my will, and I want all Buddhas to vanish into smoke and dust!"
As Sun Wukong disappeared, he left these words behind.
Since there was a Journey to the West, he, Sun Wukong, needed to resist until the very end.
