Central Perk.

"I want a million!"

Seeing that Ross was saying he wanted to get married and a bride appeared, Chandler, who is usually good at making sarcastic remarks, immediately made a serious wish.

"Rachel."

Monica recognized the person who came.

It was her best friend from high school, the woman she had met at a bar a year ago, the one who had hypocritically said, "Let's definitely have coffee together next time," and whom she bet she would never see again in her life.

Thinking of this, she couldn't help but look at Adam, and when she saw Adam making a gesture as if counting money, she immediately felt a headache coming on.

$500!

My God!

Why was she so confident in raising the bet back then?

If she were given another chance... well, it seems she would still raise the bet.

"Monica ~"

Rachel looked over and immediately rushed over excitedly, giving the bewildered Monica a warm hug, repeatedly saying, "Thank God you're here, you're here~"

The waiter asked, "Would you like a cup of coffee?"

Monica immediately reminded me, "Caffeine-free!"

She strongly suspected that Rachel was high on drugs.

"Everyone, let me introduce you. This is my high school classmate, another survivor of Lincoln High, Rachel Green."

Monica introduced her to everyone.

Hi~

Hi~~

The previous, more normal "Hi" was Adam and Phoebe.

The next wave of excitement came from Joey and Ross.

A year ago, he tried to lure Rachel into becoming the Rachel Chandler described as someone she'd go crazy with all night, using billiards as an excuse, but she just waved and looked slightly embarrassed.

Rachel's eyes were immediately drawn to Adam; he was a face that was both strange and familiar.

Monica then introduced everyone to Rachel: "This is Chandler, Adam, Joey, Phoebe, and my Ross, remember?"

"Certainly."

Rachel reluctantly withdrew her gaze, pausing briefly on Chandler. She felt a sense of familiarity with this man, as if she had seen him somewhere before, but she didn't dwell on it. She smiled at Ross, wanting to give Ross, Monica's eccentric brother, a polite hug.

Hi~

Ross was already flustered with excitement when he saw his former dream girl appear as his bride in response to his calls. He never expected that Rachel would prepare to hug him.

Seeing her approach, he instinctively reached out to shake her hand, hoping it would be enough. Unfortunately, he was holding an umbrella, which blocked Rachel. Panicked, he didn't dare to do anything and simply sat back down, cursing himself inwardly.

So, what's the situation now?

After Rachel was seated, Monica teased, "Should we wait for the four soaking wet bridesmaids to come over?"

"It all started half an hour before the wedding..."

Rachel begins to recount her escape from her arranged marriage.

She was unpacking gifts in the gift room when she saw a beautiful sauce bottle. She excitedly played with it for a long time before suddenly realizing that she was more interested in the sauce bottle than her fiancé, Barry.

She was terrified, and then another thought flashed through her mind: her fiancé Barry really looked like Mr. Potato Head.

Then, all sorts of philosophical thoughts, like "Who am I? Why am I doing this? Who am I doing this for?" began to churn in her mind.

So she ran away from the wedding.

"... I don't know where to go. I know our relationship has drifted apart, but you're the only person I know in this city..."

"I haven't been invited to the wedding yet."

Monica said quietly.

"Oh~"

Rachel said shyly, "I can only hope this isn't a problem."

Adam, using his recently learned psychoanalysis to observe the situation, realized that the problem was not just what Rachel was saying, and there were definitely other reasons.

This reason was actually the trigger for her subsequent series of arguments.

However, this reason might be too private, or she might not be sure, or even she herself might not have realized it, which is why she didn't say it.

"Of course, no problem."

Monica is such a generous person; she took Rachel back to her apartment.

While Rachel was on the phone explaining to her father, Monica reached into her pocket, counted the money, and found she only had $69. Heartbroken, she handed it to Adam: "Pay back $69 first, and the remaining $431 tomorrow, no, later."

As a head chef, her income is not low, but she is a person who lives a refined and particular life. She even prepares high-end tableware for the queen who is unlikely to appear in her home, so she can't save any money at all.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so destitute after being unemployed for a period of time that she had to borrow money from her parents.

She would never have said that if there were any other possibility.

You should know that her parents, especially her mother, looked down on her in every way, which has always been her biggest pain.

Every time her parents came to visit the apartment, she would make sure to prepare meticulously, even patting the sofa cushions repeatedly. Her obsessive-compulsive tension even startled her former roommate, Phoebe.

For what purpose?

It's just to silence her mother!

"Monica, how come you owe Adam so much money?"

Phoebe asked curiously.

Lending money to friends is an awkward situation in any country.

The saying that talking about money hurts feelings, and talking about feelings hurts money is absolutely true.

Therefore, when friends are together, try to avoid talking about money.

"I bet I lost to him."

Monica said dejectedly.

In the credit card society of the United States, $500 in cash is definitely a considerable sum of money, and she really couldn't come up with it right away.

"What kind of bet?"

Seeing Chandler chuckling beside her, clearly knowing what was going on, Phoebe immediately pressed him for details. She hated it when others knew something she didn't, because it made her feel excluded from her circle of friends.

"Nothing."

Monica glanced at Rachel, who was on the phone, and decided it was best not to bring up the bet from back then.

"What kind of bet?"

Phoebe was annoyed and moved closer to Monica, threatening, "If you don't tell me, I'll keep asking. What bet? What bet?"

"OK".

Monica could only raise her hand. "Last year we ran into Rachel at the bar, and she asked me to have coffee with her next time. I bet Adam that I would never see her again, with a two-year limit and the stakes increased to $500! It's only been a year now, damn it!"

Seeing Adam accept her money with a smile, Monica's competitive and stubborn nature resurfaced, and she pulled Adam aside to make another bet. "Let's bet again."

"What are we betting on?"

Adam laughed.

"Bet..."

Monica thought and thought, then suddenly noticed Rachel's wedding dress and had a brilliant idea. "Let's bet on whether Rachel and her fiancé who ran away from her wedding can walk down the aisle again. I bet they won't! It's your turn!"

"Are you sure?"

Adam looked at her strangely.

"Certainly!"

Monica confidently declared, "I bet $500, but it's still a two-year deadline!"

The probability of running away from an engagement and then remarrying is extremely low. She doesn't believe Rachel would dare to walk into the church again and face a large group of relatives and friends who were stood up before... She's determined to win!

Adam grinned. "Want to raise the stakes?"
