Becca sat in the guest section watching, somewhat lost in thought.
She had been following Adam as his shadow for half a year now.
Other than accompanying him to various award ceremonies and beginning preparations for the Adam Duncan Medical Award, she was almost always by Adam's side.
She had witnessed Adam's legendary professional accomplishments and his carefree way of living.
Adam had never shown any interest in her.
After seeing Adam's series of female friends, the small hope she had once hidden deep in her heart had nearly vanished.
It was not that she disliked Adam for being too promiscuous.
She just felt a little inferior.
Adam's female friends were either prettier than her, had far better figures, were far smarter, or had far greater accomplishments...
What made her feel even more inferior was that, most of the time, those qualities did not exist separately. They stacked.
If she were Adam, she would be just as detached toward someone like herself.
Could men and women have purely innocent friendships?
She believed they could.

As far as she knew, when a man suddenly asked a woman to do an experiment, it usually did not stay proper for long.
If that were all, she would only have indulged in a little fantasy before putting it aside.
After all, Adam was still Adam, a man with extremely high standards for his female friends.
