The Sudden Funeral
Night falls.
Central Perk.
Adam, Chandler, Joey were chatting on the sofa.
"Thanks."
Ross pushed open the door and walked in. Upon seeing Adam, he sincerely thanked him.
"What are you thanking me for?"
Adam laughed.
"You know that, Rachel."
Ross said embarrassedly.
"You're welcome."
Adam nodded and smiled, "We are friends."
"Right!"
Ross nodded emphatically. "We're good friends!"
Gossip spreads fast, and with Rachel making such a big fuss, how could it possibly be kept secret?
When Ross heard the news that night, his face turned green.
But what can he do?
There's nothing we can do!
They could only sit in the audience and silently watch the elderly artists perform. The love they had originally planned to give had already been shattered.
When Rachel ran away from her arranged marriage, he tried to ask her out indirectly, and she actually agreed in a roundabout way. However, because of his cowardice, he backed down and thought he could wait a little longer.
This wait has dragged on until now.
Now, Rachel has taken a liking to Adam and has even asked him out. It's easy for a woman to pursue a man, and while they're watching the show, everyone knows what they're up to!
This wasn't even what he feared or found most distressing.
What he was really afraid of was that Rachel and Adam would fall in love, and then he would be completely out of the picture.
Given Adam's excellence and Rachel's beauty, this is highly likely.
When they returned and found that Adam had done nothing, God realized how overjoyed he was and how much he had developed a strong liking for Adam.
This is a person who has transcended vulgar tastes and possesses noble character!
"Wow! I'm so touched!"
Hearing this, Joey was so moved that she almost cried, and she hugged Chandler tightly, who was sitting next to her, saying, "We're all good friends!"
"Are you serious?"
Chandler rolled his eyes in exasperation, speechless at Joey's constant hugs, but he gave Adam a thumbs up.
"Well done, Adam!"
Liu Xiahui might be considered foolish by some, but most people would still like a Liu Xiahui who would remain unmoved by beauty for the sake of friendship.
This is similar to how bad people also like to be friends with good people.
Friendship first!
Adam spoke righteously and eloquently.
Friendship first!
Ross, Joey, and Chandler exchanged glances and echoed each other.
"Remember this moment."
Adam's heart skipped a beat, and he smiled and said, "Friends' girlfriends, or even ex-girlfriends, should be off-limits. In the future, when we face choices, we shouldn't think with our lower bodies."
No matter how much you feel you love her and can't live without her, believe me, it's just hormones running high. Find a girlfriend or female comrade and have sex with her a few times, and you'll quickly get rid of this impulse.
Never let a moment of hormonal impulse hurt your friends! Do you agree?
As he spoke, his gaze swept over Chandler, Joey, and Ross.
That's right!
He was talking about the three of them!
All three of them will have moments in the future when they feel sorry for each other. They feel that it is love that makes them unable to bear it and they must act on it. But afterward, they will break up and that's it. They don't have the same recklessness they had when they first thought it was love.
So, it wasn't love at all, just a surge of hormones.
Because of these messy things, their friendship has been somewhat strained.
At this moment, Ross and the other two admired him for his firm resistance to Rachel's temptation, which suddenly piqued his interest.
Why not try making a change?
Set an example and set the rules!
Reinforcing this concept from time to time doesn't take much time or effort.
If they ever think of this when doing things in the future, have some concerns, and take a step back a little, the harm to each other can be completely avoided.
Friendships have become even purer!
After all, he also lives in this circle of friends. Not to mention changing the circle of friends to be completely in line with his values, at least it would be very meaningful and necessary to avoid so many messy things.
Just then, Monica rushed in, her expression grave as she looked at the beaming Ross. "Ross," she said, "Dad called. Grandma's dying."
"What?"
Ross's smile froze.
"Grandma is dying in the hospital."
Monica repeated, "We need to get there right away."
"Oh oh!"
Ross jumped up from the sofa.
"I'll take you."
Adam stood up and said.
"Good."
"Thanks."
Monica and Ross did not refuse and thanked them directly.
Even in 1993, taking a taxi in New York, one of the world's leading metropolises, was quite a hassle.
A true New York must have the spirit to fight to the death for a taxi.
Rachel learned this the hard way.
Once, she was in a hurry to hail a taxi. She had just gotten in and hadn't even closed the door when a genuine New York woman grabbed her hair and dragged her out, robbing her of the taxi.
She tried to fight back, but was beaten severely and ended up coming back bruised and crying.
New York University Medical Center.
Adam sped along, delivering Monica and Ross as quickly as possible.
However, he did not go inside.
At times like these, it's only appropriate to have family members present.
Later.
Adam and the others were waiting at 520 Apartment.
Monica and Ross walked in calmly.
How is she?
"She died, twice!"
Ross recounted his experience of seeing his grandmother for the last time in the hospital.
When they arrived, they were told that Grandma only had a few hours left, so they waited until the nurse reminded them.
Ross and Monica went inside to say goodbye to their grandmother.
Monica kissed her grandmother and everything was normal, but when Ross kissed her, her grandmother, who had been declared dead, suddenly reached out her hand, nearly scaring them to death.
They quickly found a nurse, and after checking her over and over again, they finally confirmed that Grandma had indeed passed away.
However, Ross didn't dare to kiss his grandmother's forehead to say goodbye.
That last attack is practically a nightmare for him.
"Oh, that's terrible."
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd.
"Anyway, her funeral is in Queen of Heaven. Do you want to attend?"
Ross said.
In the United States, funerals are usually held Queen of Heaven to allow family and friends time to arrive, except for important figures whose funerals are postponed to seven days later.
"Certainly."
"Absolutely."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Queen of Heaven.
Morning.
Long Island, New York.
The funeral home near Monica and Ross's house.
Everyone was dressed in black as they entered the funeral home's auditorium.
The memorial service for Monica's grandmother was held here.
The crowd lined up and slowly walked to the open coffin, looking at the deceased lying inside.
Because the mortician dressed the deceased in advance, the deceased was not frightening. Instead, they lay there in the most peaceful and serene posture, as if asleep, for relatives and friends to view and mourn.
The process was slow because people would occasionally say something to the deceased as a farewell.
"Huh?"
Adam's gaze, however, was drawn to the person standing beside the coffin.
This is a very familiar face.
