Rivals in Love
Four Seasons Hotel New York.
Banquet hall.
Adam temporarily became the center of the banquet.
Facing so many seniors and experts, he showed no hesitation and spoke eloquently.
This is United States, where the most important thing is to show your best side. Even if you don't have it, you can and must have it. You have to exaggerate it as much as you can to make it look impressive.
Never be modest!
Being humble will be seen as a sign of incompetence.
Bragging is something everyone can do.
Who doesn't boast in their lifetime?
Who doesn't boast their whole life?
Others generally won't deliberately expose you.
And even if someone dislikes you and wants to criticize you, you only need to grasp one point to win every battle: you say your piece, I say mine.
In other words, it involves vague concepts, subtly changing concepts, ignoring criticism, and endlessly repeating itself like a broken record.
If that's not enough, add exaggerated gestures to strengthen your tone and impact, and subtly threaten the other person that if they keep arguing with you, you might actually take action...
As mentioned before, even super nerdy guys like Sheldon and Leonard in the United States can play many hand instruments, and their hand gestures are natural and effortless.
Those have all had specialized training!
Adam was no exception.
He has learned a variety of musical instruments, including guitar, keyboard, and drums.
What sets him apart from the average United States is that he has studied psychology and is about to receive his bachelor's degree in psychology.
He naturally acquired the kind of "you say yours, I say mine" skill that requires special training to learn, and he didn't even need to use it.
Because he can understand the other party's psychology and the loopholes in their words, he can make a logical, reasonable, and measured counterattack. He doesn't need to be like a broken record, constantly repeating an unrelated point to extricate himself from a self-serving and self-defeating situation.
Fortunately, this was a gathering of elite individuals, mostly medical professionals who were more rational than emotional, so there was none of the usual jealousy, boasting, or face-slapping that often occurs here.
Even if one or two young people, like Adam, are brought in by their elders to broaden their horizons, and are somewhat jealous of Adam's rising popularity, they wouldn't be so rude and irrational as to jump out directly.
"It's him!"
The handsome young man standing on the periphery saw Adam in the center, his pupils contracted, and then a wave of envy, jealousy and hatred washed over him.
Adam may not have known him.
But he recognized Adam!
His name is William Harvard University. He is a senior at the New York City University, majoring in business administration. He works part-time as a bartender and dreams of one day saving enough money to become his own boss, open his own bar, and make millions.
His part-time job is also quite interesting.
His uncle started as a bartender, worked hard for half his life, and eventually owned his own small bar.
When I arrived in Manhattan, New York, a place full of bright lights and nightlife, I went to bars with my classmates and met a bartender with a very charismatic personality.
The two hit it off. He needed to earn money part-time, so the bartender took him on as an apprentice, teaching him various bartending techniques and a carefree attitude towards life.
He was handsome to begin with, and a womanizer from childhood to adulthood.
In a bar, this is a significant advantage, with experienced bartenders providing hands-on guidance. You can quickly transform from someone who relies on good looks to Heartbreaker with both good looks and skill.
Every woman felt that she was different from him because he truly regarded every woman as his true love.
He deceived himself before deceiving others, and he succeeded.
Of course, this kind of true love comes too fast, like a tornado, and it leaves just as quickly.
A year ago, he met a girl at school who was stunningly beautiful and fell in love with him immediately. Although this was the nth time he had fallen in love, he was really serious about it.
So he pursued her decisively.
Unfortunately, the girl was completely unmoved by his various tactics and even strongly rejected him.
He certainly didn't want to give up.
This girl was the most beautiful and had the best figure he had ever encountered.
What captivated him most were her blue eyes; they were truly mesmerizing.
Before he could launch a more aggressive offensive, a man drove up to the school and affectionately picked her up; he was definitely her boyfriend.
Because of that intimate gesture, there was no other choice.
If it were someone else, they might have been heartbroken.
But who is he?
Heartbreaker!
This isn't the first time he's encountered true love while already having a boyfriend.
He loved it even more...
But knowing yourself and your enemy is the key to victory, so he began to investigate the man.
The information was readily available because it was all publicly available.
The author of Lord of the Mysteries, the youngest multi-millionaire.
Then he was defeated.
Rich people are not to be trifled with.
The life goals he painstakingly strives to achieve have already been accomplished effortlessly by others.
How can you compare them?
Is it because he's more handsome?
Good looks are worthless in the face of money.
Otherwise, why would the goddess be indifferent to him but smile at that other man?
We still need to make money!
Deeply affected by the blow, he became even more focused on making money, especially big money.
Of course, this process is still filled with an endless cycle of searching for true love, true love leaving him like a tornado, and then true love returning.
Then he met another beautiful woman who, once again ignoring his charm, dumped him for yet another man less handsome than him, simply because this man was a doctor.
Compared to a year ago when he couldn't have the goddess, what's the difference now after all this time of hard work?
The answer is no.
He worked himself to the bone doing part-time jobs, but still didn't save much money.
Unlike his uncle, he had limited income and was not frugal, and the process of interacting with his true love required a lot of money.
Based on his accumulation process, what his uncle said when he mocked him was absolutely true.
So he felt lost.
Was the path he chose the right one?
Then, after a long time, he went to his uncle's little bar again and confided in his uncle.
His uncle said that he should study medicine. It might not have the thrill of getting rich overnight, but it was the safest way to become a millionaire.
He was persuaded.
But his bartender and his friends mocked him, saying that studying medicine wouldn't save him.
Not everyone can get into medical school, and not everyone can graduate smoothly. Even if they do graduate, the huge loans they take on while studying medicine can make doctors work for capitalists for free for many years before they can pay them off.
The truly promising path is to become a capitalist yourself, and the easiest way to do that is to find a rich woman to sponsor you. The bartender has been waiting for such an opportunity.
William, however, understood.
He doesn't care about dating rich women, but rich women only treat them as playthings, so how could they possibly give them a real chance?
So he made up his mind to follow his uncle's advice and work hard to study medicine.
But how easy is it to get into medical school through normal channels?
Fortunately, as Heartbreaker, he was always good at adapting and also worked part-time in places like bars. If he put his mind to it, he could still hook up with some doctors who came to relax.
Then he received news of the party.
He tried every possible way to sneak in, and then waited for an opportunity to build connections and get into medical school, preferably Columbia University Medical School.
With his good looks and eloquence, he made progress relatively smoothly and managed to make several female guests happy. Just as they were quietly inquiring about who the real person who could decide his fate was, he saw Adam and recognized the man who made him feel ashamed and unable to help but retreat.
