It's All a Game
After the banquet.
"Thanks."
Rachel put her arm around Adam's, walked away with her head held high, and after coming out, she let out a long sigh and said gratefully.
"You're welcome, it's what I should do."
Adam laughed and said, "I just think you should stay away from them in the future, including Mindy."
"I know."
Rachel instinctively touched behind her.
Looking back now, I realize that the other bridesmaids did talk to her in the bridal dressing room, so perhaps the problem with her dress wasn't an accident at all.
Moreover, no one reminded her when she came out, including Mindy.
Then the best man came out to mock her, specifically pointing out this embarrassing incident.
You should know that Adam noticed and alerted her as soon as she came out, so the best man shouldn't have had a chance to see her at all.
And Mindy too.
When she was invited, Mindy didn't Barry at all the slanderous things the Barry family had said about her, things that Mindy was absolutely aware of.
Did Mindy really invite her out of sisterly affection?
Back then, Mindy cheated on her countless times while being her best friend and chief bridesmaid. Even knowing that Barry was a scumbag, she was still willing to marry Barry for the sake of being the dentist's wife.
His character is definitely questionable.
All of these things cannot stand up to scrutiny and become increasingly problematic the more you think about them.
"It's better to have quality friends than quantity."
Seeing Rachel's shifting, somewhat melancholy expression, Adam comforted her, "Good people like Monica and Phoebe are your true best friends."
You need to have good character before you can talk about friendship.
"I know."
Rachel thought back to when she ran away from her wedding to find Monica, Monica complained that she hadn't been invited at all but still warmly accepted her. A smile involuntarily crept onto Rachel's face.
Where is Monica?
"There it is! Huh?"
Adam glanced around and spotted Monica and Richard, but then let out a soft exclamation.
"What's wrong?"
Rachel asked, puzzled.
"Something seems wrong. Monica seems to be crying, and Richard is comforting her."
Adam explained.
"Then let's go over there."
Rachel took a step to walk over.
"Etc."
Adam stopped her. "Let's take a look first."
Many times, even with friends, you shouldn't rush in and force your way in, even if it's for their own good.
At this moment, Monica might just want to bury herself in Richard's arms and cry her heart out.
Ten minutes later.
"Oh no, Monica is in big trouble."
Seeing that Monica and Richard remained in that position, Rachel finally snapped out of her own emotions and began to care about Monica.
"Let's go over there."
Adam had a guess in his mind, and he walked over with Rachel.
After Monica and Richard parted ways, Monica wiped away her tears and got into the car. Monica leaned against Rachel, while Richard looked rather unwell. He gave Adam a helpless, bitter smile in response to his probing gaze.
Back to 520 Apartment.
Richard left.
When Rachel asked her, Monica suddenly burst into tears, and through sobs, she recounted what had happened.
It really is a marital problem.
Richard's mistake was inviting Monica to the wedding.
Monica was in her late twenties, almost thirty, and in this setting, looking at her boyfriend who was over fifty, her desire to get married reached its peak.
Every now and then, the conversation would drift to marriage, almost turning from hints to explicit statements.
Unfortunately, Richard had no intention of getting married. Even though he understood his girlfriend's feelings, he could only give her perfunctory answers. In this atmosphere, the joyous day felt like an eternity.
Then the fuse was lit.
Monica mentioned children, saying it wasn't that she liked them, but that her mother wanted her to have several. However, when she saw a pair of wedding children playing behind her, she couldn't take her eyes off them.
Finally, she confessed that she just likes children, but for the time being, she and I are not married and have children.
Richard could no longer brush off the child's question.
If he's only temporarily not thinking about the wedding, he can still have one later, but what about children?
He is now over fifty years old, and if he has another child, it will take another eighteen years to raise the child to adulthood.
By then, he'll be over seventy, an old man, and he'll still have to work to earn money to support his children. How will he have the energy to enjoy life with Monica?
That's too tragic!
Moreover, he already has two grown children.
So he really doesn't want the child anymore.
This is a matter of principle.
Monica was stunned when she heard that.
She loves children the most and really wants her own, but the person she loves most has no intention of having children with her at all. Isn't this a joke?
Unfortunately, looking into Richard's sincere eyes, Monica knew that this was not a cruel joke, but a cruel reality!
Monica isn't Adam; she can't continue a relationship where she sees no future.
So, they had no choice but to break up.
Everyone offered words of comfort, but to little avail.
In the end, he could only entrust Monica to Rachel and Phoebe before leaving.
Only time can heal this kind of pain.
One week later.
Adam found the MCAT score.
As he expected, he utilized the strengths of the East Country in his previous life, and his results were not just good, but extremely good.
Adam immediately called Juno and learned that she had the same score; although it wasn't as high as Adam's, it was still very good.
Now I'm just waiting to graduate from university in two weeks.
Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye.
Time truly is the best healer.
After Monica and Richard broke up, she couldn't stand it for long Richard tried to find various reasons to get back together, but everyone dissuaded her.
She even secretly sought out Richard for an affair, and Richard, of course, never refused her advances.
But the problem remains, and it will always be a thorn in our side if it's not resolved.
The thrill of an affair cannot be concealed.
Whenever she was in a state of enlightenment, Monica would try to hold back, but she couldn't help asking that question, and naturally, she would get a negative answer.
And so, they broke up again.
This time, Monica insisted on being supervised by everyone and finally got through the most difficult weeks of the breakup, but she still couldn't eat or sleep well, and even alarmed her parents.
Her father came to visit her.
She asked only one question, "Did Richard cry?"
She was going crazy trying to find the answer to this question, constantly trying to find the answer to Richard's phone. When she heard a woman's message, she was furious.
But after everyone reminded her that she might be Richard's daughter, she instantly recovered and became extremely happy.
After all that tossing and turning, and a sleepless night, I looked completely exhausted.
When her father said that Richard was also very upset, he believed that Richard must have cried in private.
Upon hearing this, Monica felt completely relieved and fell asleep with a smile on her face.
What does it mean that I'm sad but you're not?
Don't you love me?
I'm sad, but you should be even sadder!
The relationship between men and women is so mysterious; even breaking up involves so many intricacies.
Back then, Adam was dumped by his ex-girlfriend Amazing Amy, why was he so heartbroken? Wasn't it all so that Amazing Amy would be satisfied and he could finally let go completely?
It's all a routine.
