New Chapter
Las Vegas.
Luxury suite.
"Don't you have anything to say?"
Seeing that Adam only smiled and remained silent, Rachel couldn't help but say something with some displeasure.
"I think you should have a serious talk with Ross."
Adam pondered, "Could it be that he has some kind of mental problem?"
"Is there a problem with your mindset?"
Rachel retorted, "Of course he has a problem with his mentality. Who in their right mind would count that many times?"
"Okay, you've stumped me."
Adam dared not say anything more and could only raise his hands in surrender.
"Oh."
Rachel said, somewhat exasperated, "I knew it was pointless to talk to you guys. You even have a bachelor's degree in psychology."
"Didn't you also study psychology?"
Adam remained silent.
"I switched majors because the psychology building had better parking."
Rachel retorted confidently, "Can they be the same?"
"..."
Adam's lips twitched. He first extended his left thumb, then his right thumb, and finally clapped his hands, holding up both thumbs with a classic 'I give up' smug expression.
Rachel angrily tossed her long hair and walked away.
Chandler and Susie had also agreed to come out of the room.
"She's not going?"
Adam asked curiously.
"I'm not going."
Chandler shook his head. "The fewer people involved, the better, to avoid awkward situations later."
"I think she should go."
Adam joked, "To avoid misunderstandings and further embarrassment later."
"That's perfect."
Chandler's sarcasm came out without hesitation. "I'd like to see whether he supports me or opposes me then?"
"It's useless."
Adam laughed and said, "You forgot, none of us have that aura."
Because of the influence of his father Helena from a young age, Chandler has a strong gay vibe in the eyes of normal people. Of course, the intensity is not as strong as Rajesh's, but it is still easy for people to misunderstand.
For example, when he worked at an IT company, a female colleague once tried to set him up with another male colleague, but she was shocked when she found out he wasn't gay.
Then Chandler wanted to explain to the male colleague who had been set up with him that he wasn't gay.
Who knew that gay male colleague, naturally, knew.
Because people like them have a kind of 'radar' that can tell at a glance whether others are like them, while Chandler, although he looks very similar, does not have that kind of temperament.
Chandler's father, Helena, being a seasoned gay man, certainly had a more discerning eye.
No one can fool him.
The two chatted and laughed for a while, then got up and headed to the small theater, but ultimately didn't call out to Susie.
Small theater.
Helena appeared on time, her gaze sweeping across the room. When she saw Chandler sitting next to Adam, her eyes froze, and the tenderness in her eyes almost melted Chandler.
After her opening remarks, Helena continued with the interludes.
"Where u from?"
This time, Helena didn't approach Chandler immediately. Instead, she started from the edge and pointed the microphone at a guest.
"Bakersfield".
The guest replied.
"Sorry?"
Helena pretended not to hear.
"Bakersfield".
The guest repeated the sentence.
"Oh, I heard you. I just said I'm sorry."
Helena teased in a serious tone.
"Hehe."
The entire room erupted in laughter.
"Your humor is clearly inherited from your father."
Adam exclaimed.
"Fortunately, he only inherited this bit of humor."
Chandler said with a self-deprecating laugh.
Helena greeted each guest one by one, occasionally cracking a few humorous jokes, giving off a stand-up comedy vibe, before finally arriving at Adam's side.
So, what's your name?
Helena handed the microphone to Chandler.
"Chandler".
Chandler responded in a low voice.
"Chandler —what a unique name."
Helena said in a very serious tone, "Your parents must be very outstanding~"
"I don't know how others evaluate them, but they themselves must think this way."
Chandler complained.
"It doesn't matter what others think of them."
Helena smiled and asked, "What's your opinion of them?"
They're very humorous!
Chandler said in a very serious tone, "I actually think I'm pretty good!"
Helena's smile faltered as she walked past Adam and the others, forcing a smile as she continued to greet the other guests.
"What are you doing?"
Adam nudged Chandler and whispered a reminder: "Don't forget why you came here tonight."
"I know, I know."
Chandler watched his father's forced smile as he left, feeling both frustrated and regretful. "I didn't mean to argue with him, I just couldn't control my mouth."
Adam rolled his eyes.
He's so used to making sarcastic remarks that he just can't stop. If he were in some other world, Chandler would definitely blow up the Earth because his sarcastic energy is too strong and out of control. He's definitely a mouth that can destroy the world.
Of course, in this world, for Helena, Chandler's rants were no less powerful than the Earth exploding.
"Clap more and talk less later. We'll talk after the performance."
Adam suggested.
"OK".
Chandler nodded quickly.
Sometimes, he also hates his mouth.
Because often, people don't appreciate his humor; instead, they find his jokes too lame and awkward, and they look at him like he's an idiot.
Clap clap clap!
Clapping is much easier; it's simple, clear, and unambiguous...
Sure enough, Helena radiated with joy again when she saw Chandler clapping.
The performance has ended.
Adam took Chandler backstage.
Both men were willing to reconcile, and with Adam's guidance, Chandler, who refrained from using humor indiscriminately, successfully opened up to his father.
Chandler chose to forgive and pardon Helena's apology.
As expected, Helena did indeed go to New York every year for the past few years to catch a glimpse of Chandler from afar. Seeing him happily with his friends made her feel gratified and she gave up the idea of going to bother him.
"You will be a good father and a good dad."
Helena looked at Chandler and exclaimed, "Parents who are countless times better than us."
"I think I will."
Chandler smiled and accepted the compliment, just as Helena had said in a serious tone before that Chandler's parents were the best.
Adam, however, had a sudden thought and secretly made a plan.
The weekend passed quickly.
Mom and Dad dragged Teddy and Gabe, who were reluctant to leave, home.
Monica couldn't wait to leave this place that had made her sad.
Those traveling with him included Ross, Phoebe, Rachel, and Susie.
Chandler and Joey took turns driving Phoebe's taxi all the way back to New York.
Adam, Juno, and the other two had a great time in Las Vegas for a few days.
Then we flew to Los Angeles and visited the famous Hollywood and the equally renowned San Fernando Valley.
After that, they visited Hawaii, Yellowstone National Park, Niagara Falls... Adam and his three companions visited almost every scenic spot in the United States.
The long summer vacation has quietly come to an end.
A new chapter is about to begin.
