A Letter
Studying medicine is a very busy time.
Busy times always seem to fly by.
Central Park.
"Call."
Chandler was covered in sweat and panting heavily.
Adam and Monica stood side by side, then turned around and saw Chandler standing there waving his hand to indicate that he couldn't go on.
"Let's take a break."
Monica wiped her sweat, looked at Adam whose expression remained unchanged, and couldn't help but exclaim, "You really are a monster."
"Many people say that."
Adam joked.
"Heather said that too?"
Monica asked gossipily, "By the way, I haven't seen her lately."
"She went to Texas."
Adam laughed and said, "Her grandmother passed away and sent a letter asking her to return and inherit the family fortune."
"That's terrible."
Monica, as was customary, first offered her greetings, then abruptly changed the subject. "Going back to inherit the family fortune? Her maternal grandmother's family is very wealthy?"
"I don't know either."
Adam shook his head. "I heard there's an estate and a large farm."
"Wow!"
Monica exclaimed enviously, "Another manor? Caroline has a manor, and now Heather has one too. Adam, is a manor your starting point for dating someone?"
Adam's lips twitched. "It's all a coincidence."
He's being talked about like some gigolo. It's just a manor; if he wanted, he could buy one too.
After all, manors vary in size. It's unclear which manor Heather will inherit, but the one Caroline will inherit is a very cheap one, costing only a few million.
Of course, Adam doesn't yet have the means to own a super estate worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
However, even if he had the money, he most likely wouldn't buy it.
Adam is now worth tens of millions, and his assets are still growing rapidly, but he has no intention of buying a house at all.
It's completely unnecessary.
The property tax in the United States is disgusting. It has to be paid every year, and the property tax for a luxury house is not a small amount each year. With that money, you might as well buy stocks that are destined to appreciate dozens or hundreds of times.
Living in a place like that is just lonely and not very interesting.
A place doesn't need to be big or luxurious; it just needs to be comfortable.
But what makes someone comfortable?
Naturally, it's best to have your loved one nearby and your friends living across the street.
Once Adam buys that kind of mansion, he will inevitably have to move away. As the distance grows, there will be less contact, and the relationship will gradually fade away.
Even if they buy a house nearby, there will still be a lot of interaction. However, once Monica and the others see Adam's mansion, it will inevitably have a huge impact on them, thus creating a psychological barrier between them and Adam.
Tens of millions in numbers and tens of millions in physical goods are completely different concepts.
Adam will be truly classified as a wealthy person.
Can the rich and the ordinary still be good friends?
That was just wishful thinking.
Of the Friends Six, the true core members are Monica, Ross, Rachel, and Chandler, while Phoebe and Joey are on the fringes and can be replaced at any time.
Because the two apartments across the hall were rented by Monica and Chandler.
Ross is Monica's brother and Chandler's college roommate and best friend.
Rachel is Monica's best friend from high school and Ross's crush.
The four of them have a very close relationship.
Besides being Monica and Chandler's roommates, what other relationship do Phoebe and Joey have?
That's all.
In fact, if it weren't for that neurotic old man downstairs, Joey would never have had the chance to become Chandler's roommate, and after Phoebe moved out of Monica's place, she became even more of the person Rachel described as 'who could disappear at any moment'.
Among the group, Monica and the other three were noticeably closer and more relaxed with each other.
Phoebe, on the other hand, has always been somewhat of a victim.
Joey's attitude toward Ross was somewhat 'ingratiating'.
Rachel and Ross broke up several years ago. Joey has very strong feelings for her, but he always cares about Ross's feelings and is willing to suppress them for his own sake.
Ross, however, showed no courtesy whatsoever to Joey's girlfriend.
The devil is in the details. Why do these discordant elements appear?
Because of my identity.
Monica and Ross's family can afford a Porsche sports car; one is a chef and the other a PhD, so they belong to the middle class.
Chandler's mother was a bestselling author who could afford male servants from a young age. She also had a high income and was able to save up a sum of money that amazed Monica and Rachel, making her a member of the middle class.
Although Rachel doesn't have a job, her father belongs to the high-income group. Judging from her 4,000 pairs of shoes, boat, and horse, she lives an upper-middle-class life.
And what about Joey and Phoebe?
One had an unstable income and often needed financial assistance, while the other had been working on the streets since childhood and also had an unstable job, at one point being so short of money that he had to drink leftover coffee.
These two people don't really fit in with Monica and the other three.
In reality, these are two completely different circles that would never overlap.
Even if they overlap, they will gradually drift apart and will never be this close.
For example, in the Big Bang Theory, when everyone learned from Sheldon that the Rajesh family's wealth was comparable to that of the Batman family, everyone's attitude immediately changed.
Leonard immediately contacted Rajesh's sister because 'he loves her very, very much'.
Penny immediately found Rajesh much more pleasing to the eye and regretted ever only having one hand with Rajesh in the first place...
Howard, on the other hand, accused Rajesh of taking advantage of him, saying that he was so rich that he had to make Rajesh pay for his things.
After eating at the Cheesecake Factory where Penny worked, Leonard and his two friends ran off, saying that Rajesh was a super-rich man and didn't care about the money.
Penny also made it clear that the tip had to be very generous, because that was in line with Rajesh's status.
It seems funny, but if you actually encountered this situation in real life, would you still be able to remain friends?
When will she be back?
"Monica asked."
"It's not clear yet."
Adam shook his head and said, "I was planning to go with her, but the timing didn't work out, I had to go to class."
"By the way, how's it like studying medicine?"
Monica asked curiously.
"Very good and fulfilling."
Adam thought for a moment and laughed, "It's also very interesting. The first time we went into the dissection room, one of the boys threw up."
"Eek~"
Monica frowned, unable to bear it any longer. "Isn't this disgusting?"
"Well enough."
Adam said jokingly, "It's because he has a bad mentality. You'll get used to it. It's nothing for us to stand next to him and eat."
"Vomit!"
Monica imagined the scene, then immediately covered her mouth and gagged. After a while, she exclaimed in shock, "Are you serious?"
"Just kidding."
Adam laughed and said, "You can't bring food into the dissection room to eat."
"That's good."
Monica pressed her hand to her chest, letting out a sigh of relief, but then realized something was wrong. "Hmm? What if we could bring food in?"
"Hehe."
Adam smiled without saying a word.
Just like the Walking Dead, they're disgusting at first, but after watching them a lot, it's not so bad to watch them while eating.
Not to mention Adam's three years as a hunter and butcher, these are all minor incidents.
Without this kind of mental fortitude, what kind of doctor are you?
P. S.: I'm not in the medical field, I don't have medical advisors, and I don't have the time, energy, or resources to collect detailed medical information like experts do. So, I can only touch on these professional topics superficially and briefly, and I can't elaborate on them. Fortunately, this book is called "Slice-of-Life American TV Series," not "Slice-of-Life Doctors," so it's not a case of misleading the reader.
