Wait for My Call
Paige's apartment.
Adam Jingjing admired the picturesque scene.
for a long time.
He suddenly felt like he had forgotten something.
I tried hard to think, but I just couldn't remember it.
"Never mind."
Adam shook his head, stopped thinking about it, opened his lunchbox, and began to enjoy his meal while keeping an eye on Paige's movements.
He wanted to see if Paige could truly immerse herself in scientific research while surrounded by the aroma of food.
The result made him very happy.
Paige didn't make a sound.
"Looks like it's not that my driving skills have deteriorated."
Adam compared the food to the delicious food and felt very gratified.
"Did Paige's mom and boyfriend go on a trip abroad?"
As Adam ate, he thought to himself, "Looking at her dedication to scientific research, it's really worrying if no one takes care of her."
Thinking about it, he scanned the entire apartment building and immediately found several pieces of evidence that Paige wouldn't be able to take care of herself once her mother left, and shook his head repeatedly.
"This can't be allowed!"
Adam stroked his chin for a moment, then dialed his assistant Ada's number.
"Could you check if room 3B in the Princeton University apartment complex is for sale?"
If it's for sale, buy it immediately.
More money?
No problem!
If you're not selling, find the nearest apartment in this building and buy it.
Be quick!
It's best to get it done before dark.
Besides cooking, is Lisa good at housework?
You're good at it, that's great.
Find me a new cook; I have other plans for Lisa.
that's all."
After hanging up with Ada, Adam dialed his assistant's assistant, Lisa.
"Lisa, do you want a promotion?"
Needless to say, Lisa happily accepted her new position, being promoted from assistant's assistant to assistant, and now reporting directly to Adam.
The reason I chose Lisa is because she is efficient and capable, and I feel she is quite reliable.
Paige's condition, Adam naturally couldn't possibly hire a regular domestic helper for her.
He felt more at ease having Lisa live across the street or nearby to take care of him.
"Once Paige gets into the zone, you must not interfere with her inspiration, but you also need to ensure her physical health. It's a delicate balance to strike..."
Adam told Lisa everything he could think of in bits and pieces.
"Don't worry, boss."
When Lisa learned that she had been promoted and received a raise, she was full of energy. Her mind was filled with the thought that the boss was truly in love with that girl, and that she might even be the boss's wife. She became even more attentive and patted her chest, promising, "I will definitely take good care of her."
Then she realized something was wrong.
"Hey, boss."
"Um?"
"Are you talking about the girl I saw when I delivered the food, or Dr. Paige Dr. Adler?"
Lisa hesitated before asking, "Or are you referring to the two of them?"
"..."
Adam's lips twitched, and he said speechlessly, "Where are those two? What you see is Paige Adler! What are you thinking about?"
"It's nothing, it's nothing."
Lisa immediately smiled ingratiatingly, but inwardly she thought, "How would I know if you didn't tell me? Everyone knows that you rich people are the most playful. Is it strange that I mistook them for two people?"
But that young woman was none other than Dr. Adler. Paige Adler! Are PhDs so worthless these days? Such a young and beautiful female PhD—the boss certainly has a sharp eye!
Hang up the phone.
Adam got up and looked around, thinking about how to provide Paige with a better living environment.
He moved to a mirror, looked at himself in the mirror, was startled at first, and then his expression became strange.
Is this still him?
What happened to the promise of "more than friends, less than lovers"?
"Damn it, the East Country man's obsession with Chu women from my past life!"
Adam pondered for a long time and finally discovered the reason.
Paige indeed more beautiful, more intelligent, and more alluring than Heather, Max, and Bianca, but she's not enough to make Adam lose his composure like this.
The real reason, however, is not any of these.
Having been in this world of American TV shows and movies for so long, I've gradually become assimilated by its customs, and I've come to accept certain things as normal.
However, this does not mean that the values and subconscious beliefs that Adam developed over the past decades have disappeared.
They've simply hidden themselves deeper; without a special stimulus, they won't show themselves at all.
Having figured this out, Adam sat back down on the sofa and gave a self-deprecating smile.
That's the situation.
Paige is indeed special, but in this free world, given her personality, even if Adam wanted to take things seriously ahead of time, she might not necessarily do so.
You can tell just by looking at her ruthless attitude when she drew her gun.
This kind of thing means nothing to her.
The ultimate mystery of the universe is what she truly desires.
To dwell on this excessively is the act of a fool.
Adam would never do that.
Sitting on the sofa, watching Paige work hard, Adam was mentally adjusting himself.
He's a professional in this area.
The afternoon passed quickly.
Night falls.
As dusk settles, the city lights begin to twinkle.
Assistant Ada was very efficient; she personally brought the key to room 3B across the street, along with Lisa.
"Well done."
Adam praised it.
"It all depends on the boss being willing to pay more."
Ada hit the nail on the head.
"Lisa, Paige is in your hands now."
Adam smiled and looked at Lisa: "Call me if you need anything."
"Okay, boss."
Lisa readily agreed, full of energy.
"Paige, this is Lisa. She lives next door. You can ask her for help if you need anything."
After Adam finished giving his instructions, he walked over to Paige and said softly, "I have to get up early for work tomorrow, so I'll be going now."
Paige didn't react and remained lost in thought.
Seeing this, Adam shook his head, gestured for Lisa to stay, and then went out with Ada.
"Wait for my call."
The moment the door closed, Paige's voice came from behind.
Adam turned around and saw that Paige's posture had not changed at all, and almost thought he was hallucinating.
But Lisa's raised thumbs and exaggerated expression clearly told him that it was true.
Adam's lips curled into an uncontrollable smile.
Inside the elevator.
"Boss, Lisa said there's a guy waiting downstairs who seems to be paying a lot of attention to Paige..."
Ada made a casual remark, but before she could finish speaking, Adam interrupted her.
"Shit! Leonard!"
As soon as the elevator reached the first floor, Adam rushed out and looked back at the spot where he had been standing. Sure enough, there was a desolate figure standing there.
"Leonard, I'm sorry, I forgot."
Adam went over and apologized repeatedly.
He said he always felt like he'd forgotten something.
"Adam, why did it take you so long to get up there?"
Leonard complained, "You even forgot this? What were you doing up there?"
"Well."
Adam didn't know how to tell Leonard.
But as a friend, he didn't want to give Leonard the wrong signal.
So he could only pat Leonard on the shoulder and say seriously, "I remember you said that Dr. Elizabeth Dr. Plimpton the Physics Department is also very beautiful? How about I take you there and introduce you to her?"
Leonard: "..."
