Doctors' Bar
Two o'clock in the morning.
The Giant Tumor Resection Surgery, which lasted fourteen hours, has finally come to an end.
Apart from that one life-or-death crisis in the middle, everything went relatively smoothly.
"Great job, everyone."
After completing the procedure, Dr. Shepherd gave his usual affirmation. "We saved a life!"
Everyone looked both tired and happy.
Saving lives and healing the wounded is always a pleasant experience.
"You're a real pervert."
Cristina was rubbing her wrists and twisting her waist when she saw Adam responding to everyone's praise without showing any signs of fatigue, and she couldn't help but mutter a complaint.
She was the one who knew Adam's abnormal physical strength better than anyone else present.
The thought of Adam holding up a giant tumor with both hands for eight or nine hours, and then with one hand for four or five hours, still looking relaxed, sent chills down her spine.
"Hehe."
Adam smiled without saying a word.
While it's essential to be assertive and take the lead at work, a degree of humility and reserve is necessary in interpersonal interactions outside of work.
Otherwise, wouldn't he become Sheldon?
That would be too enviable.
Sheldon survived only because of incredible luck.
Adam wasn't going to gamble with luck.
"Shall we go to a bar for a drink later?"
Cristina invited, "Everyone should go."
"You mean Joe's Bar across from the Medical Center?"
Adam asked.
"Right."
Cristina nodded and said, "That's our medical staff's bar. Many of my colleagues like to go there after work. The owner, Joe, is a really nice guy. You haven't been there yet, have you? Come with us tonight. Joe has been looking forward to seeing someone as influential as you."
"Alright."
Adam did not refuse.
These kinds of places are great for networking.
Moreover, missing even one appearance makes you seem out of place.
Changing room.
Everyone took off their white lab coats and blue shirts and began to change back into their everyday clothes.
They were all doctors, and there was no special distinction between men and women; everyone was together.
Alex, who usually swaggered around like a thug, couldn't muster any swagger this time. He sat dejectedly in a deserted corner, changed his clothes, and left without saying a word.
Clearly, he had likely received notice that he would be undergoing rectal examinations for the next two weeks.
"High-Definition Photographic Memory? Are you serious?"
While changing clothes and chatting, Meredith and Liz were astonished to hear Cristina imitating Adam's sincere speech.
"Does such an ability really exist?"
"Um."
Adam nodded. "It's not that rare, my friend has one."
What does your friend do?
Meredith asked curiously.
Adam briefly described Sheldon's achievements.
"A pervert's friend is indeed a pervert."
Liz complained.
"Cristina, I remember you also have two doctoral degrees."
Meredith looked at Cristina: "You can't do it either?"
"..."
Cristina, no longer wanting to talk, shoved her white lab coat and blue shirt into the locker and slammed the door shut. "Let's go! Let's go for a drink!"
Damn it!
Comparing yourself to others is just infuriating!
Across from the Medical Center.
Joe's Bar.
"Our most influential figure has finally arrived."
As soon as I entered, a tall, fat man greeted me with a big smile, saying, "I heard that tonight, because of you, a life was saved. That's why I like hanging out with you doctors. Being with you makes me feel the meaning of life. The first round is on me."
"Thanks."
Adam thanked the boss, having a good impression of him.
It wasn't because the other person invited him to drink, but because the other person had a very comfortable aura.
Too.
The Medical Center is located in a bustling area, and there's more than just this one bar nearby.
Without good enough service, this bar wouldn't be so famous among doctors.
Adam and the others sat in a row at the bar.
Joe was both the owner and the bartender. As soon as Adam finished ordering their drinks, he handed them over immediately.
Everyone chatted casually.
However, due to professional habits, the conversation always revolved around medical cases.
"Liz, are you not angry anymore?"
Cristina took a big gulp of beer and looked at Liz: "Performing open-heart surgery on a heart patient right in the ward must be amazing!"
"How can I not be angry?"
Liz rolled her eyes. "You can't imagine how I felt at that time. Mr. Harper had a large blood clot in his chest and was in critical condition. The nurses couldn't contact any doctor except me."
I've never even seen this kind of surgery before, let alone performed it.
But the nurse said that if I did it, the patient might die, but if I didn't, the patient would die even faster.
My mind went blank as the nurses dressed me in surgical scrubs. Under their guidance, I cut the stitches on Mr. Harper's chest and opened his chest.
"So you need to get along well with the nurses."
Adam laughed and said, "The old saying about doctors diagnosing and nurses treating patients is no joke. Experienced nurses are a great help to interns."
"I know."
Liz lamented, "If it weren't for them, Mr. Harper would have died long ago, or perhaps even at my hands."
"Nurses are not doctors after all."
Cristina interrupted, "In the end, wasn't it you, the doctor, who turned the tide? We didn't waste our four years of medical school."
She is a typical example of someone who admires the strong and strongly agrees with the position of doctors and nurses in the hierarchy of the medical system.
Actually, it's not just nurses.
When Liz threw a party at Meredith's house, she invited pediatricians and psychiatrists, and her blatant contempt was palpable.
If she didn't have a typical Southern Cosmic Race appearance, Adam would have suspected she was from Island Nation.
Adam's past performance put her under competitive pressure, but she remained confident.
But they did the entire surgery together today.
Adam's extraordinary performance in terms of physical strength and professional skills deeply shocked her.
They seem to be on completely different levels.
Adam was the stronger one, without a doubt.
It is her instinct to admire and be close to the strong.
This is why she suddenly invited Adam to a party at the bar.
"Mr. Harper had no pulse and his heart rate was erratic, so the blood clot had to be removed immediately."
Liz made no comment on the relationship between the nurse and the doctor, but continued, "And I was simply not skilled enough to remove the blood clot immediately."
Seeing that Mr. Harper was about to die, I gritted my teeth, put down the instruments, reached into Mr. Harper's chest cavity, and pulled out the blood clot with my hand. My God, you have no idea how big that blood clot was, the feeling..."
Adam was no longer listening to Liz's perilous journey, because the system's notification sounded in his mind.
