Adam's Three Thousand Affections

Adam's guess sent chills down Kate's spine.

Mr. Deakin's smile made her feel even colder.

The officers escorted Mr. Deakin away.

Adam drove Kate back as well.

She was going to the Medical Center to see the only surviving victim.

"Lily, has Anna woken up?"

Adam had Kate make the call for him and asked while driving.

"Not yet."

Lily said happily, "But the anesthesiologist has already checked her and said Anna is fine. She should wake up soon. How are things over there? Did you catch him?"

"Don't worry, we got him."

Adam smiled. "We'll head back in a little while."

After chatting for a few more minutes, they hung up.

"Kate, help me call Chandler."

Adam said.

"You really have a lot going on."

Kate rolled her eyes.

"Heh."

Adam smiled. "I seem to recall someone liking how much I meddle~"

"Pervert!"

Kate spat, but still dialed Chandler's number for Adam.

"Chandler, where are you? Is Monica with you?"

Adam asked.

"I'm at work."

Chandler smiled. "Monica's at home taking care of the baby, so of course she isn't with me. What's wrong?"

This pregnancy carried far too many of Monica's hopes.

So while there would have been nothing wrong with continuing to work, Monica had not followed Rachel's example by working right up until she was nearly due, almost wanting to give birth at the office.
