MAX's apartment.
Faced with MAX's murmuring, Adam merely smiled without saying a word.
It was only natural that MAX could appreciate Caroline.
Adam could not really say much, either.
Everything had to be allowed to take its course.
And clearly, MAX had not expected Adam to say anything. As she murmured, her eyelids grew heavy, and she soon fell sound asleep.

"Should I call Adam again?"
MAX and Caroline were ready to leave, but Adam was nowhere to be seen. Seeing Caroline's disappointment and unease, MAX picked up her phone, about to call Adam again and hurry him along.
"No need."
Caroline stopped her. "Adam is a doctor. He's very busy, so don't disturb him. I'm only going over to see Chestnut this time... I'm already looking for a place. Once I find one, I'll bring Chestnut out. It's just hard to find a cheap house with a yard."
Caroline had boarded Chestnut at a professional racetrack, where dedicated staff took care of her and she lived an incredibly carefree life.
But that had been before.
Now, Caroline could no longer afford this kind of custom private-horse service.
Fortunately, she had paid for a full year of service in advance. Before it expired, Chestnut should not suffer any mistreatment... probably...
