The moon hung high overhead.

"Should I bring Caroline over?"

MAX said lazily.

"No need."

Adam paused, then shook his head.

"Are you sure?"

MAX tilted her head up and glanced at him.

"I'm sure."

Adam smiled. "At a time like this, the two of us should just enjoy the moon."

"You said it. Don't say I didn't give you the chance."

A faint smile appeared at the corner of MAX's mouth.

Adam had been watching MAX from the corner of his eye. When he caught that slight curve of her lips, he sighed inwardly.

Just as I thought!

MAX might have been the queen of dirty jokes and sharp tongues, always pulling off one outrageous stunt after another.

But she was nowhere near as open as she made herself sound.

Adam had watched the American sitcom 2 Broke Girls in his previous life.

But he had neither rewatched it dozens of times like The Big Bang Theory nor watched it several times like How I Met Your Mother.

He had not even made it as far as he had with Friends, which he had basically finished.

Adam had only watched the first two seasons of 2 Broke Girls before dropping it.

Its plot was far less cohesive and grounded in everyday life than those three classic sitcoms. It felt a little too much like jokes for the sake of jokes.
